"I'm going camping/on an adventure." - A surprisingly popular expression on my campus meaning to consume illicit narcotics.
"You can pick your friends but not your family." - Having relatives you don't like in particular
"Don't drop the soap." - To watch your back/be careful; originally told to inmates to prevent prison rape in shower rooms
"A[ny] man worth his salt." - To be extremely skilled/knowledgeable/strong/hard working; a term used to describe hardened sailors in the past who were paid with salt and highly valued it as port currency
"Chip off the block." - When similar character traits are shared between a parent (usually the father) and their children
