Lack of CLEAN anthro art
« on: December 05, 2013, 05:08:01 AM »
 >:( Ok, so I understand rule 34 porn for everything blah blah blah but Why does there have to be so damn much of it? I can only find a limited supply of really good clean art and some REALLY GOOD artist are wasting their time with porn! There seems to be no shortage of good-quality art when it comes to porn, but there is a big shortage of really good CLEAN art. I have some good clean stuff I have found and now its in my picture document folder but I can normally only find like 10 really good ones! Does anyone know where to find really good clean artwork?

You really just gotta browse places o.o
I can't say I think there's a shortage of good clean art, because at the very least on FA I have nearly half and half, and that's out of 50+ pages of faves or something to that effect. I can reference artists if need be

On FA, you're not allowed to see the NSFW pictures unless you have an account that says you're old enough and want to view them. You can even switch it off to images rated for adults so you only see the clean artwork. You can try that if you'd like.

That's kind of judgmental. You shouldn't call people art a waste of time, regardless of content. It's disrespectful.

I just think they could be using that talent to make clean art. I look clean art up all the time and find very little real good stuff. I  turn safe search on and everything.

Agreeing with this. Artists are people, and people like different things. No one needs to adjust their talents to draw what other people want. It's kind of ridiculous to assume that artists are being wasteful by drawing pornography when in the furry fandom it can get you a lot of money, as well. If adult art makes you uncomfortable you can safe search (FA has a sfw button on it which is cool!) and on other sites you can even ban keywords to prevent you from seeing technically safe but fetishy stuff.
Also, to dismiss pornography or adult work as "not art" is absolutely not okay. There are plenty of pornographic, and dare I say fetish pictures that have artistic merit. Just because someone doesn't wish to see them does not mean that they are talentless "wastes". It's presumptuous and childish to think that's the case. That being said, it's okay to not like it however, it's not okay to assume there's zero effort involved in the process. Art takes a long time, that includes adult and clean art. Subject matter is pretty much irrelevant when you're talking skill, time, and creativity.

I just think they could be using that talent to make clean art. I look clean art up all the time and find very little real good stuff. I  turn safe search on and everything.

To me, this is like saying, "I think they could be using that talent to make non-furry art." Yes, they could, but clearly they don't want to. I get wanting to see more of particular art you enjoy, but if that's the case, commissioning them for it is a good start. Another alternative is get started learning to draw, yourself. There's tons of resources on the internet.

And it's okay to have particular kind of art you want to see! Just don't be vaguely insulting to pieces that don't fit those guidelines and artists who don't produce the things you want to see. There's no need for that negativity.

I have to agree with Friday and MomoHyena.

If you want clean furry art, there are a number of clean blogs on tumblr if you've got a profile there. I've tracked the "cleanfur" and "cleanfurry" tags there, and while some of it really pushes the "clean" part, none of it is explicit. I suggest checking that out if you're on tumblr.

Now, I understand where y'all are coming from, and I do consider the pornographic stuff art, but I simply don't like how much more of it there is than clean stuff. Yes, I do turn safe search on and search with the keyword clean, aber I still get a Lot of porn.

Well, if you've taken those measures and it's still coming up, it may just be something you need to look past. Just scroll past the adult stuff and pay attention to the clean art.

I know that SoFurry has features for users to search clean-only artwork.

I was considering putting my current writing projects on hold and writing a few furry shorts, but I'm not sure what the reception would be and if it would be worthwhie. I was just thinking that it's a shame there's so little fiction about growing up LGBT that isn't about dating or sex in a community with so many members.

There are plenty of artists that have a completely clean gallery, myself included. For most of the porn artists, it's because porn sells so it's easy money, but really most of these artists still do clean art, there are very few that are porn only. Just switch the SFW filter on and suddenly there's a lot more clean artists. Not really hard to find.
