Description: Helios is tall, but lanky preferring quick movements and finesse to head on combat. He has normal coloration for a Lynx-kin, but having been born during a Solar Eclipse he was marked on his chest with sun symbol. His hair is light teal and his eyes a golden orange. He wears an open black hoodie, a typical pair of blue jeans, and a pair of black combat boots. His broad sword is snow white and generally strapped to his back.
Short Biography: Born the son of a poor man, Helios grew up working for the mayor of the town where he was born. When he was ten he fell in love with the mayor’s daughter Luna. The mayor, having come to love Helios like a son after Helios’s father died, the mayor was more than proud to take Helios into his family when Helios turned sixteen. Tragically on his wedding day the town where Helios lived was razed to the ground by a large and vicious black dragon. Being the only survivor left, Helios began to wander the world devoid of purpose. One day as he neared death in the wilderness he was rescued by a group of hunters. They took him to the local tavern and there he was taken in by a traveling Swordsman. In return for his service the Swordsman offered to train him in the art of sword play. After two years of traveling he was freed to go out into the world. But Helios only had one mission. Revenge against all dragon kind.

Welp, it's not that bad of a switch. It's almost an upgrade from the long sword if the user knows what the rivets on the blade are for.

Yep. The serrated bits on the broad swords. They kinda jut out and tend to look like a design in the sword.

Well it's not to make the sword flashy. What it does is it makes the other person's sword vibrate violently in their hands as they go down the length. This makes them loose their grip on the blade, and allows the wielder to disarm them without much effort.

Almost all broadswords are made with straight edges as they've been so mass produced over history. Specialized broadswords with serrated edges are rarely seen and used. Long-swords, though thinner, are extremely swift and normally have sharper cuts and much better for highly dexterous thrusts. So in actuality, broadswords are actually quite a down-grade.

personally, I prefer a long-sword any day. the longer and thicker blade requires more strength, muscle control and dexterity than a rapier as I have 6 years experience with both weapons.

Reason being is. It might not be made for war (which I doubt we will get into), but it's a really violent weapon. It just takes a stupid amount of training that other mass weapons couldn't produce. On top of all of that dexterity and some physical agility. Your movements will be mostly low lounges, or a mixture of un-armed martial arts.

Unlike modern day fencing. The Rapier is actually a weapon that takes advantage of people's errors, and turns it against them.

Most of the time, people will aim for the heart, the longues, the head with a stab that is already hard enough to predict where it's going if you aren't the holder. And if they don't kill you with the skewer, they finish you with the dagger in their other hand while you reel in pain.

I've had some experience with a rapier.

Personally I'd prefer a simple longsword. The finesse comes into play with the dagger. I prefer a curved one, it makes disarming easy especially with foes who stumble around with their swings

such a statement about a longsword really does show your inexperience with that class of weapon. an average longsword is roughly 4 1/2 feet long and as thick as a katana. the weight only affects your performance in a negative way if you're a novice. longsword art is a fast and "elegant" art which utilizes the blade as a whole. the real issue with real longswords is that they're expensive. in a 1v1 fight, it's pretty dead even with a rapier, but when it comes to fighting multiple people, the longsword is far superior.
