Alright, before I say what I'm gonna say, please keep in mind that I am NOT trying to start a fight. I'm trying to help you all.

Now, some of you have said that you are practicing Witchcraft. I want you guys to listen to me very carefully. REALLY NASTY **** CAN AND OFTEN WILL HAPPEN TO THOSE WHO PRACTICE SUCH. This isn't some game. My own grandfather used to practice Witchcraft. His son, my dad (who is not a BSer I might add), would tell me these horrible stories. Even further, I have heard about and watched one of my relatives being involuntarily possessed. I could feel the mind-bending insanity when it happened... The pure malevolence and despair of these spirits, these demons, whatever you want to call them, they were there and they were real and they are NOT your friends. They don't want to help you, they don't want to be your best chum. They want to drag you into the abyss they're trapped in and keep you there until you are nothing more than a bitter husk of screaming rage, sadness, and terrible memories just as they are.

I am not exaggerating. I am not trolling. I am not kidding in the slightest. In the end, it is your life and your decision but I am TELLING YOU NOW. Do NOT underestimate what (or should I say who) you're dealing with here.

Though I know you guys probably won't believe me, it all comes from the same source. There is no "light" side to Lucifer or any of his dark angels.

There are multiple sides to every religion, every belief, every system. So many of these things react the way you expect them to on the base level. Even in death; people who "come back" report so many different things. When you die, your body dumps all of it's dimethyl triptamine into your bloodstream at once, making the last few seconds of your life last what feels like a massive amount of time, and making you see all sorts of things.


Voodoo has two main sides. The "white" side is primarily concerned with well-being, healing, protection, and good fortune. Their biggest job is to prevent the darker side from ever coming about; Red Voodoo.  The darker side is usually performed only by a Bokor; think of them like a Voodoo mercenary. They do as a client asks, even if it's Red in nature.


As for witchcraft... Frankly, if someone gets hurt performing a ritual of some sort, they either were in over their head, arrogant, or simply untrained. Of course, there is accidental interference sometimes that can really mess stuff up, too. But witchcraft, like Voodoo, is primarily concerned with benefiting people.

I've been infatuated with spirituality my whole life, and I've always felt connected to the older systems.


So I was wondering, who here practices the old ways? Or at least holds them close? Anything from the ones listed, to anything similar, including replications of them, like Kemeticism, Neo-Druidism, or Wicca.


Heck, anything misunderstood even. I'm basically saying I wanna make this a thread discussing connections to anything sans the big three monotheistic religions.


I myself identify as Spiritualist(not the spirits-of-the-dead thing), which is basically the core all religions have in common, with as much room for personal interpretation as you can personally interpret. Thus why I gravitate toward the old ways.

Personally I relate to therian and otherkin beliefs while believing in the use of witchcraft. However I don't think rituals should be performed without extensive training. Animated shadows are something I see frequently, I feel the need to be somewhat cautious about what I mess with. I stick mostly to reading.

Yeah. I know what you mean. I've seen Shades twice, and let me tell you it can be terrifying. Overall, I avoid any type of ritual for summoning any power from the other realms. Not worth the risk, since I'm untrained.

Just because I don't want the general board cluttered with topics about very similar things (we already have a topic about voodoo that also contains discussion on witchcraft, artifacts and things like that). I'm going to merge those two topics together and rename the "voodoo' topic to something more inclusive. I hope people don't mind (if you do mind you can PM and we can figure something out, this is just so that we have all of one topic in the same place)

I say HECK NO to voodoo, not anything worth playing with. Some people down the road from my old house in Charleston were into it, never in my life have I been more scared than when I pass that house. I wish people knew what they were getting into when they started, and hope others don't follow that dark path.
