As they walked their way off of the ship, Seth regaled Sam with the story of how he acquired his mech. As a child, he marvelled at the huge machines people would use to keep the peace in the movies and television shows he watched, and he was never as excited as when he saw them in his local town's parade. From that point on he was determined to have one of his own, and be one of the peacekeepers. Unfortunately for him, though, his family was relatively poor, and were unable to afford a single nut or bolt for him to get one.
Undeterred, however, he performed many hard labour jobs to get enough cash for a rusting hulk in a nearby scrapyard. How the old police mech wound up there, he never knew, but he was determined to have it. For a measly 1000 in credits, it was his. Of course, it wasn't any good in it's condition, so a few more years of scrounging for cash and spare parts (as well as some crudely self manufactured bits and baubs), he was able to bring it up to code. It was heavy and comparatively slow to most other mechs, but it was able to hold its own. With it, he was able to secure a place on the Stardust Academy registry.
"With the amount of scratches, dents and holes in the old frame, I'm at least not worried about the unloading crew scratching the paint!", he said with a laugh.
