Okay so I need help with writing stories. I can get a general understanding of how they are written but after reading other stories it makes me feel like I am missing a lot but I don't know what. I can write the details of the story pretty well it is just creating a story line that is that hard part. Also I have a problem with writing a story. Any advise that you provide will be helpful beyond belief. I am currently trying to write a book so I will post a small portion of it if requested.

Here are three tiny (but important) tips.



Tip#1 - Write. Anything. Always.


You will write stuff that suck. You will leave them be and just keep writing... THEN you will come back to them and rewrite them, until you like what you see.


Tip#2 - Focus on the likes.


There will be furries who will like your story.
There will be furries who will strongly dislike your story.


There will be furries who will offer strong, unasked for, critique for your story.


Focus on the likes, while keeping an open ear to the critiques. They might help.


Tip#3 - Find an editor.


A friend or a forum member, someone who likes your work, should offer a fresh perspective on the plot and characters, while noticing/correcting grammar and punctuation errors. We all make 'em, hehe.

thats very good Yamin. It's well written not sure what  all the problems were 


One small criticism, You might want someone else to have a go at editing it, its very easy to overlook errors in grammar if you do it yourself.

I agree with Tyga an editor is certainly needed. You got a great style about your writing though. Very simple, very relatable for your readers.


I would tell you that since your character is joining the Marines I'd look up what actual Marines go through in Boot camp. See about going down to the local recruiters office to talk to actual Marines. Research and authenticity with books that have real world settings.


Knowing what actually happens should make pushing the plot along easier.

Thank you for your kind words and as it is, I do know what they go through because I was originally going to go into the marines. I had to go through 7 different boot camps that the recruiters put me in to prepare me for the real one. They were like practice ones. Sadly I was denied due to a medical condition that should pass within a few years.


Your words helped me a lot and I will continue to write but if I do finish this story I don't think that anyone would want to publish a furry book.

There are plenty of furry books out there or ones that have anthropomorphic characters in them. Publishers will publish anything they think will make them money. All you can do is send it off when its finished and see what people say.


The other thing you could do is publish it as an e-book within the fandom itself.

oh no absolutely not that is just all that I have done so far. also, what do you mean by "ambient elements"?
