My friend just showed me a pretty cool band. Its my first steps in Death Metal, and Carnifex actually made it listenable. Aggressive vocals, THAT YOU CAN TELL WHAT HES SAYING! What?!! Crazy right! Joking aside, pretty awesome band from what I've heard so far.

I'm thinking of trying a Nu metal thing on bass. I dunno if my band would be up for it as we're mostly thrash, but I'll throw some Nu metal bass lines at them and see what happens.

I'm rather partial to metal. Grew up on it. Favourite metal artist would have to be Bathory. That music changed my life.

I guess I'm a little bit of a metal newbie since I've only been into the genre for the past year or two  X3 (The reason that I started getting into metal seriously is actually kind of silly). I'm a big fan of power metal though, plus plus folk, viking, and misc. other subgenres. It's also nice to listen to while I'm working on stuff or need a pick me up or something.

So? Doesn't mean they're bad. And she said she was new, so I thought to start with the more widely known.

I guess I'm a metal head, but I like punk a little more (just depends I guess)  :P

I mean I listen stuff like Metallica (1983-1991), Slayer (1983-1990), some NWOBHM bands, Havok, Exciter, early Iron Maiden, Candlemass, Judas Priest, some Overkill, Black Sabbath (if you consider it metal), and various 80's thrash/ heavy/ speed metal bands.

I really don't like any of the new stuff (there are exceptions). I don't know, I just like how raw some of the old stuff sounds. Another genre of metal I don't care for is like death and black metal. The instrumental part of it is awesome, but the vocals ruin it for me.
