Elysium
« on: June 06, 2014, 06:40:57 AM »
"Upon their sins; we more banished! Let them stand as an example upon the rest of you, do not repeat their actions.... And for these sinners, the wasteland awaits."

The guards pushed the prisoners through a booing crowd; the banishment was almost an event. Although this didn't occur on a regular basis, the government attempted to group the banishments for paperwork and for entertainment purposes. In the bubble of Elysium, entertainment wasn't given too much for commoners. Due to such, scandal and legality solutions often rose to the attention(with the help of underground cartoon drawings and gossip); especially with the range of classes involved in the recent batch of sins.

The Spiritius family looked away in dismay at their child; the lynxes quickly hiding from view through their trademark facial veils and hoods, going back into their large home from its balcony. Nicholas met eyes with his family for what he thought would be the last time, and looked away stubbornly. He was roughly pushed by a guard for his lag. He hurried with the others, having taken his last look before the gates. His part as a marquis was over; and when he was stripped of his veil, his future became in the wasteland.

His face was in dismay as the patterned gates shut; guards aimed at the sinners.

Nicholas sighed heavily, wincing at the close of the gates and the silencing of the crowd's roar. His golden eyes fell upon the ground for a second, before he stretched and stood up straight. He rubbed the bracelets that he was allowed to keep, his eyes meeting his plum gemstones before he waved a hand; habitually conjuring a white hood and cloak over his head to cover him from the hot sun, with the wave of his hand.
He knew that Elysium could strip him of his status and home, but they'd never strip him of his ability and name.
Regardless of Elysium; he would remain Nicholas Spiritius, the Seer of Miracles.
With his eyes a bit blank from his hood, he looked at the others with his family's trademark blank expression.
"So, what now?" The seer spoke, his eyes in the general direction but not making contact with another's gaze.
Jesus didn't die for this.

The warm wasteland winds continued blasting the group as they fell silent. Mixed feelings were coursing through the group like a violent storm of rotten chi. Mumbling was coming from beyond the gates - about the one whose long charcoal pants slipped out from under the white sack of a cloak being used to hide the rest of him. One of the great highborn Shosius clan was a sinner. It was unprecedented, but rumour had it that sin had taken Enigir right after he abandoned his clan in a rage. All but the display of wrath had been true. No, sloth had been the now banished Shosius' sin. And that suited him fine - folks might underestimate him if ever he was attacked. The genuinely slothful were always the first to go it so the stories said.

Enigir drew looks from the other sinners - some dead, others mildly sympathetic - as his shoulders shook and his head bowed. Quiet little sounds came from his nose. But then in a swift motion the man whirled in a circle, kicking up sand, and cast off his cloak. A crackling ray of energy flew from the fingers that cast away the cloak and a moment later with the click of a finger the air and cloak ignited. Enigir's face was mad with joy.

"What now?" He asked calmly. He repeated the question more incredulously as he hopped lightly a few feet away from the group. He turned to face them. "Now we are free to do as we like! So we have to do a little surviving first, boo hoo. I say we've all been gifted with the chance to discover ourselves! Anyone who disagrees with me..."
From the recesses of his long pants Enigir produced his katana. He pointed it loosely at the general direction if the group. "...is an idiot."

He paused and scented the air. The still booing crowds and tense gunmen at the gate were really getting in his nerves. He dropped his regal posture but even so remained a sight to behold, his blade shining in the sun, his clothes and signature scarf flapping loosely in the wind.

"Say...why let us keep our stuff? If hey gave us a briefing well, ha, you can guarantee I slept through it. But why let us keep our arms? To kill each other? Or to kill other things? And if so with the other things category then are they edible? Oh dear..." Enigir mused as he sheathed his blade, turned his back from the group and smiling, shrugged. "Didn't think my whole freedom speech through did I? Oh well so long as we have no traitorous psychopaths in our midst I'm sure we'll do just fine!"
Enigir put his hands on his hips and laughed out towards the emptiness. He was positive he'd like these folks a lot more than he liked the stuffy populace of Elysium. Oh yes...a LOT more!

Jogete waved back at the crowd, not caring if he won't be seeing this city again. "Thank you, thank you, I know you're gonna miss us but we'll be back soon!" lies, all of them, he got bored of this place, nothing changed at all, even if he could come back, he doubt he would. "Keep your mouth shut sinner, or I'll have you tongue cut off where you stand" the guard shoved him forward, out of the city gates along with his... Inmates? Banishmates? He couldn't find the right words for them

"What now?" Jogete heard his partner say in dismay. "Now, we do whatever we want, wherever we want, whenever we want! We're basically free right now if you ask me" he yawned while adjusting his backpack that seemed to be sliding off seconds ago, then it dawned on him that they didn't call this a wasteland for nothing.  Just as he was about to come up with something, a partner of his broke out with a speech, interrupting his thoughts. "Right, survival, you guys reckon the others that were banished before us made establishments? Because if not, I've got literally no idea what to do" he laid down on the ground while taking out his clockwork rifle and looked at the cloudless sky. Well this will be boring, he thought as a bird fell out of the air.

"So what did you guys do to be banished?" Jogete asked out of boredom. "I was caught for well, stealing and a lot of other things. Greed's my sin, what about you guys?" he asked and toyed with a clockwork construct that fell out of his backpack. This'll be something new. Maybe. Hopefully.

"So this is it, then?  A release, if it can be called that, into a gigantic wasteland.  Feels like another prison."  One of the guards violently shoved Xerxes, having known he can't hear him.  Xerxes landed on the ground, chest first, followed by howls of laughter from the crowd.  He didn't care.  The world was a silent, dusty plain.  He could feel the heat from the ground rise through his feet.  Xerxes quickly tied his heavy coat around his waist.  "And so it begins."

Xerxes peeled the headphones off.  He looked about, and sighed. "Another boring chapter in the tome of my life." Then picked up a rock, and threw it as far as he could, and watch the dust rise from the impact. "Boring, boring boring, boring!  Well....who's gonna take the reins, huh?  Obviously we were released together for a reason.  Maybe we're supposed to kill eachother, for a sick, twisted sport."

Having heard the question of sins, Xerxes shrugged. "Wrath.  I...uh...deafened a guy.  He made me upset, and I let him know.  If you don't want me to follow you, I understand."  Xerxes moved, and sat on a nearby rock.  He sighed "This is gonna be rough."

The huge snake had been restrained heavily, a sturdy pair of incredibly large cuffs for his hands behind his back, with a huge weight attached. Similarly thick cuffs were put around his legs, and a muzzle made of steel wrapped around his mouth. As soon as the gates had closed, the cuffs made a buzzing sound and fell away. He did not respond to the chattering of the others, merely eye all of them, and then turn away towards the desolate vastness outside of the city. He was still allowed the clothes he had, all being old, dark colored military uniforms. Currently, he wore a dark grey jumpsuit with his gigantic old military boots. He slung a large dark-green duffel bag that had been thrown out with him, filled with mostly his clothes, but also with an assortment of items, mostly poisons and blades of all sorts, as well as some equipment to help create traps, and camp. He walked out towards the west, saying nothing.
What such beauty hides such sweet sorrow, a black rose, dew-drops upon the leaves, yet with thorns like death's cold blade. The serpent of temptations, the raven of omens, and the spider of poison, all such beautiful creatures marked as Death. Alas, the pale horse comes. Come Samael, come! Come forth, Asmodeus, Astaroth, Beelzebub, Ba'alberith, Leviathan, Lucifer! We are Legion!

Nicholas found himself staring into the sun for a second, while the crowd bustled. Some leaving, others just talking into the sky and waiting for a response. Having to response to his statement, he just listened as he heard many broadcast their sins. With this came a bit of attention toward him from an aggressor.
"So, a mysterious Spiritius has found his pampered ass with the rest of us...." A female white wolf laughed loudly, elbowing him and staring at him viciously. With a slight hum, Nicholas turned his golden gaze upon the woman, listening to her ramble. "And still wearing those stupid gems, I see. Perhaps it's not too early to make some dough, even if there ain't anybody to sell it to. Perhaps I'll just have to use your skin for a new coat." Her malevolent grin stuck to Nicholas, who just stared back blankly before jumping backward at her dagger's first slash.
"I will teach you how foolish it is to talk before you swing." He responded, a flash of golden light summoning his trademark orb. With his eyes fixated on the wolf, he swung and telekinetically slammed it toward her chest with another flash of gold. A second too late, however as she vanished; reappearing to his side. Barely moving in time to get the hilt rather than the blade, Nicholas sighed quietly in a bit of pain, but swung his orb upward; catching her by her stomach.
"Rise, now." He swung her up, lashing a hand in her direction. His cloak vanished to be a series of hummingbirds in his colors, while the orb rose her only higher. The hummingbirds swarmed over her, and quickly her blood was seen dripping below her while the birds did the work. The orb appeared on her top, and Nicholas spoke softly; "Fall." With a slamming motion, the orb almost crushed her. However, a swift vanishing left her on the ground some distance away, while Nicholas looked onward.
The flashy display got him quite the attention, while his orb vanished and the birds regrouped to his cloak. Enjoying the attention, he spoke out in his typical tone.
"Perhaps it would be better if we didn't lash into chaos, unless you'd like the fate she almost experienced." His eyes fell upon the closest people; a fox of bright colors, and a darkly colored raccoon who'd just been complaining of boredom.
Jesus didn't die for this.

"Those who resort to violence should not be afraid to be struck themselves by violence. You brought violence to the group on day one - well done by the way." Enigir sighed as he gazed at the hopeless lump wheezing in the dust. He wondered...
"I'm getting the hell away from the lands which house the Shosius clan. I'm likely to be pursued..." Enigir trailed off. He snapped back to himself quickly though. He continued: "Well I'm hereby officially founding Group Alpha. 'Cause it's the first splinter group that this batch of so called 'sinners' knows of. My little illegalities led me to hearing good things about the western lands - nothing 'bout the wastelands but. And only brief, fragmented rumours at that. I know I'd rather search for a future away from here than sit here and wait for the violence to escalate!"
Enigir turned and strode boldly off, his paws barely leaving a mark on the sand. He created the first dune and gazed at the open expanse before him. He smiled. It was orange, it was hot, but it was just like the snow. Enigir smiled. He threw his head back and closed his eyes. A gust of hot wind came from behind him. He wreathed himself in the sand and strode forwards.

Jogete whistled, this wasn't what he expected from the Spritus clan. "That was incredible... But like what the katana guy said, you shouldn't have displayed violence if it's what you wanted to avoid." he pulled up his sleeve a little, revealing a laser which he shone onto his hand, stirring his backpack. "Toys, check."he covered it and the backpack calmed. "Construct reanimation" his backpack shifted and metallic rods and gears attached themselves to his hands. "Gear, check".he tapped a button and everything retracted. Noticing that it gained him some attention he looked at the others and said "What? I just need to make sure I can go against you guys."

Jogete looked at the unconscious she-wolf, wondering when she was banished and took out away her daggers. "Good night, sleep tight" "best not let her stab us in the back" he thought then made his way towards the raccoon "You know, for a guy with your personality, wrath is the last sin I would expect from you" he shrugged and walked away. "Your sin could be lying, I mean, what you told me could've been a lie, I wouldn't even be surprised if it was, you being a raccoon and all"

Xerxes watch the groups of prisoners move and bustle, and grinned. "Not one of these lives will work hand in hand.  Alas, we cannot cultivate the garden without first digging in the dirt."  Xerxes turned to the fox.  "My early years were rough, mechanical one.  Having been assigned audio research, I had to experiment.  Days upon weeks of being alone left my mind broken, and scared. As for falsifying information, I will never lie.  Not when I can help it."  He then sighed as the fox walked away, and turn to the crowds.

A large male wolf was accosting a younger female fox, and that was enough.  Xerxes sprang towards the wolf, fingering the activators on the M.A.D.  "Sir, this is a dishonorable act.  For this, you shall pay."  Without warning, the wolf delivered a right cross to Xerxes mouth, causing small amounts of blood to fly.  Xerxes reeled back, and activated the M.A.D. The wolf clasped both sides of his head, collapsing on both knees, as Xerxes strode towards him.   Upon reaching him, Xerxes removed the large wrench from his pack, and lined up a swing directly to the wolf's temple.  Xerxes leaned in close to the wolf. "Learn you this.  To strike a woman is a sign of weakness.  If we are to survive, the weak must become strong."  Xerxes stepped back, and delivered a mighty blow to the wolf, causing blood to fall from his mouth, and run from his ears.  After deactivating the M.A.D., Xerxes drove his shin into the chest of the downed wolf, and walked away.

He walked back to his original group, paws held apologetically.  "Brothers and sisters, we must work together to survive.  We must not work as groups, but as one great civilization."   Xerxes then sat on a nearby rock, and looked to the horizon.  He looked to the future.

Adrian was not too far out, his sensitive ears listening in to the petty words of the others. Civilization was broken. He knew that all empires fell, and any man who knew his history knew the same. His tail slithered in the air, as Adrian did not wish to leave a trail to be followed by. His keen eyes looked out hoping to find any sign of trees. Any forest he could find he would call home. There was nothing more comforting him than the woods, and since he was banished, he might as well find a new home.

Chrono had stayed silent during the procession of their banishment. Out of all the attendees he could make out at the sentencing, the only Terra'nus there were his siblings. Of course they would appear, showing concern where none was warranted or deserved. But, he would not let his outrage rule his actions for the wasteland outside was no less dangerous than living inside Elysium. After all, his clan was the only reason this "civilization" hadn't fallen after it was abandoned by the fortunes of Mother Nature herself.

He continued to remain silent during the confrontation between the Spiritus and some low-born exile. He saw no need to expend his power in acting against either since it was obvious that his connection to the earth gave him an unprecedented advantage in this wasteland. In fact, odds were that he was going to outlast every single of these idiots since most of them lacked the mental capacity to bring rations of sustenance. Granted, some could say the same about his own lack of supplies, but as one chosen by Nature he had the ability to revitalize himself regardless of how little water was available.

He eventually broke away from the group and followed after the monolith of scales known to him as Adrian, though he gave him a respectable distance as he wanted ample warning time if Adrian's infamous capacity for murder was not an exaggeration.

Nicholas approached Xerxes after his speech and looked towards the back of his head, approaching him rather whimsically.
"Old chivalry is useless. Everyone here can defend themselves," he spoke towards him, tone still average while he recalled his orb into existence, gazing into it while still speaking. "If I had the talent of my family, I could show you how futile your words are.... But instead I'll just keep an eye for you, and perhaps I'll be able to show you in the future."
Nicholas then took his leave towards the South, a golden hummingbird or two materializing from his cloak and placing itself upon Xerxes shoulder before crumbling into what appeared to be nonexistence. While he walked, he continued to gaze and at times scry; seeing events that just occurred and more in confusing glimpses.
Most of his glimpses between a reptile and Terra'nus, though a few were of vague landscapes.
After sighing and giving up, he allowed his orb to keep to his left; having made some distance from the crowd, he finally looked up to see a large, dry cliffside. He sat in its shade, aimlessly looking into his orb and then around him.
He began to feel parched, but his blank eyes couldn't find water too close; underneath the cliff, anyway.
Jesus didn't die for this.

A dot stood at the very base of the cliff, which upon approach would turn out to be a very nonplussed Ex-Shosius clansman. He was touching the rock and frowning deeply, truly not expecting to have reached such a path-impending setback so early in the game. The rock was solid, too. Nothing he could just blow up with either variants of his flame Shock Wire magics. He turned, hands on the back of his head and mumbled:
"Well balls. Now what?" he sighed deeply and felt suddenly parched. He lazily tossed an arc of magical energy into the air and turned it blue. He detonated the spell and looked skywards with his mouth open as a small explosion of water fell around him. What didn't wet his throat cooled his body down. He sighed happily and returned to the problem at hand.
Then a double-take. An exiled was standing on the dune that Enigir had previously crested. Who? Was it that Kruezotter? No...different silhouette. Aside from the odd little circle floating by one if the shapes ears it seemed for the most part to be Spiritus. Enigir wondered...wave or hide? From what he knew about the Seer Clansmen he might just be hunted down anyway if he hid. In fact, the Seer family had often aided the Shosius clan for various reasons through history, regardless of the coin exchanged.
Momentarily disgusted, Enigir considered hurling a bolt of destructive wind magic at the one who aided the Shosius'. But Enigir paused. Then he grinned almost manically. That didn't MATTER any more! Not out here!
Enigir bolted, kicking up almost copious amounts if sand, and skidded to a spectacular halt before the Ex-Spiritus clansman.
"Yo! Nick Spirit! That's what a westerner'd call ya! Hey listen about this cliff...it's kinda sorta 'here' from the direction I first bounced in. Think we're in a bowl and the lands beyond here are an elaborate myth? Or is it just an obnoxious cliff...?" [\color]
Enigir slung a friendly arm around 'Nick Spirit', who honestly didn't look pleased with the nickname.
Enigir then sighed theatrically and looked almost smugly at Nicholas.
"so about that game plan you need to come up with for us all to survive...?" [\color] Enigir pressed.

Just as he was about to lie down again, he felt something... a piece of machinery around him... Though there was nothing to be found, he whispered "Deactivate" and was greeted by a cheetah seemingly unknown to the fact that his cloaking device is broken.

"Hey there cheater" Jogete yelled, stunning the feline long enough to deliver a blow to its neck. "I see what you did there" It grinned and spat out some blood. "But that's not the end of the show." The feline produced a pair of revolvers both aimed at Jogete. "Now give me your gear and nobody gets hurt"

Shrugging, Jogete dropped everything he has in his backpack, all his constructs. The cheetah stared at what fell out, and laughed at him. "So, a sinner, taking nothing but toys to a wasteland when he could've brought anything. You're not worth keeping alive at all. Any last words? Kid?" The revolvers clicked, and Jogete put up his hand to mimic a gun, and pointed at the cheetah. "Yes, pow"

A bright red dot appeared on the cheetahs forehead, and the constructs came to life, all of them producing razor sharp wings and claws, all headed for him like a swarm of locusts. The revolvers fired, but nothing but smoke came out. "My toys love eating metal, you should take a look at how they snack, if you live long enough that is" One by one, the constructs landed on the cheetah's head, tearing through flesh and bone as quickly as they can.

"Retreat" Jogete muttered and they returned to his backpack which shut itself as he slung it back on. Feeling the mechanical tick of the cloaking device again, he paused and held up a hand in the cheetah's direction, preventing it from being used. "Ever wondered what would happen if it was overcharged?" He moved his fingers as if he was moving a puppet and pixels appeared around the cheetah. "You get sucked in" He curled his hands into a fist, and the pixels wrapped the cheetah before disintegrating, a watch lying where the feline was a few seconds ago.

Seeing how everyone is going in their own directions, Jogete decided he'll do the same. "Hey raccoon wrath sinner guy, care to join me?" He asked without looking back, the raccoon will probably take his own route in this wasteland, but maybe the raccoon will follow him, it's worth gambling at right?

Xerxes watched as the group dispersed, sighing.  He watched as the fox slew the cheetah, and watched the body dissipate.  As the fox asked for companionship, Xerxes rose with a groan, analyzing the fox. "Interesting...he controls machinery from a distance.  How did he know the cheetah was there, I wonder." Xerxes looked back at the male wolf, as he was being tended by a few others.
"I just wish we could have worked together." Xerxes then moved to catch up with the fox.

"Well...if we're going to work together, I suppose learning names is an order."

After approaching the fox, he extended a paw. "Xerxes...no surname needed or given."
