(A few days later) Novak sat up as the old man entered the room with his meal."Your wounds have nearly closed up externally but there might still be internal damage so be careful." "Yeah." Novak replied taking the meal from the old man who then sat down in a chair by the closet. "We are going to have to leave you, you know that right?" Asked the old man. Novak quickly looked back up, "What? I can barely walk!" He said loudly, "It was not my choice," said the old man, "Our leader says your already a heavy drain on supplies." "How many people are in the group?" Asked Novak, "I would say about 16 including you," Replied the old man. "Can I talk to your leader?" "We will see he was planning on seeing you before we left." The old man got up and walked out of the room. Novak finished his meal pondering his situation and how he was going to survive. The door opened and the old man walked in fallowed by a tall husky male. "You wanted to speak to me." He said in a low overly alpha type of way. Novak was taken aback buy the husky's demeanor. "Uhh yeah I just wanted to ask if I could come with your group." "No." The husky said without hesitation, "Aren't you even gonna think about it?" Asked Novak fearing being left alone injured. "I already have, do you know how we have survived this long?, we survived because we were smart. We didn't take chances, but we are taking one with you and I don't want a drag on the entire group because of one man."
"I can carry my own weight if that's what your worried about," Novak stood up slowly. "That's not what we are worried about, your physical state is fine we can deal with that, but the amount of supplies you take up is a drain on the rest of the group and I don't need that." "If I may," interrupted the old man, "What if he scouted for more supplies as soon as he physically recovers." Said the old man. "that might be fine but we will see." replied the husky.
