There is some interest in restoring trams to Hobart.  Many of the tracks are still in place, but support has been mild.


I think it would be cool.  It's one of my favourite parts of visiting Melbourne.

Our public transport is so weird.  There is a limit in the number of taxis here but it is higher than other cities because of historical accident.


Though we do have a few big red double-decker buses!

Anyway, there is an order of +1000 buses incoming.
They want to replace the busses from number 3195 untill 5101

We have some of them too, but they are getting old now.  Most were due to funding connected with the 1988 Bicentennial celebrations and ended up being either school buses or serving the lower socio-economic areas.  So it's been a tough life for them

My favourite ones from 1994/1996 are already gone 
But the modernisation program would include replacing all the buses from 1995-2009.
And that is an huge amount of buses.
