Tim poured a weak sauce over the meats. It slid over them like water and dripped into the burning coal.
Then the scent really came out, and thus, flavored the meats.

It was made with dry spices and vinegar and oil.
Oil normally sticks to anything and vinegar is just a strong smell, so combined with the spices, it really adds a scale of scent.
Spices also overdose when cooked directly, so it is HIGHLY unrecommended.
