Artists are artists. World renowned or not. That's like me writing a riff. You can practice it, but not claim it. The point is, there's a line drawn to where one would have to say something. If you claimed you made it, then there's a problem. If you're tracing or anything just to practice, and again, show the original and say, "hey, I traced this," then what's the angle? To what part can you get mad at? He's denied all originality and shown proof that he traced it. The fact this whole argument was brought up is a little redundant, yeah?

I can kinda understand where she's coming from.

It takes a lot of time to create art from scratch and a lot of time to build up skill and form your style and all that, so I can understand that some people might get upset when someone just "rides" on their work, especially without permission and even more so without giving credits.

Still, Fen gives credits to the artist, and some artist actually don't mind people tracing their work for as long as people do give credit.


To be honest, I trace and/or color stuff too, but I tend to stick to the stuff that people put out there for people to color/trace/mess around with in order to avoid situations like these.

See Cheza's got it right. He should at least be asking these people if he can trace their work. It's the only way of knowing, unless clearly stated in the description of the picture, if they're okay with tracing.

I didn't ask for a damn debate about whether what I'm doing is "okay" or "the right thing to do" all I asked for was that people give their opinion on how I can get better and inform me of what I'm doing wrong and what I'm doing right!
