What about World Edit? Isn't that a tool that can be used to save people's creations?

The thing is that we could probably keep the old map, honestly, and just update to the latest version, I think.

The problem is we won't get some of the new content, they've added some new natural blocks and have also redone a bit of the world generation. I also think that, it's been a year, so might as well start a new? Big structures are cool and all but once you've made them that's sort of it. I'll definitely save the old map and make it available for anyone to download to marvel at, but as far as keeping the old map for the entire server... don't you think it's time to start anew?

I'm personally in favour of a refresh. It's been a long time coming and considering the heavy glitching that effected the world pretty crazily and still effects the map.

If there's a way to keep the old map as backup though, then sure.
Perhaps post a zip of the backup here so anyone can get at it. Maybe someone will host a tff classic server?

To be completely honest I think it should restart, everything is scattered about, it lags a bit, and seems there's too much water...
I don't know that's just me, I'd love to restart I have no problem with it.

Now there's a good idea; anyone who wants their old stuff can get it, then, AND the full-restart supporters will be satisfied.

Please please please restart, the current world is kinda corrupted and has been up for ages. To keep minecraft interesting an odd restart is required.

I haven't been on much for a variety of reasons. However, I wouldn't have much of an issue with restarting. Hopefully with more focus on letting in people who are trusted. We do not need another series of thieves and griefers.

Good news is I've updated to 1.9 and I've backed up the whole map

Bad news is that the map is 1.89 GB so I'm not entirely sure how to upload it cause my upload speed is about 25 KB/s (and not many places let you store >1.89 GB files). Anyone have any ideas of a place where I could store it?

  I'm working on Resetting the map, it should be reset by the end of the day, I have to delete all the current map files and that takes a little while (it's 1.89 GB in very small 100 Byte files, filesystems don't like that so it takes about 12 hours to do anything on the huge batch)

you can with google drive just need to mess around with download premissions for the type
