Remulus let out a silent sigh of relief. He gave a thumbs-up. Then he tried to "speak." In motion of gestures and hands he "said" "Wait for Eddie to leave. When he does, we leave."

Kitten calmed a bit, but her body shook with fear. She scooted closer and shook her head. Then she held up her left paw and showed Remulus her ring finger.

Remulus's eyes opened in fear. He said in sign language. "Okay, okay sorry. Please don't scream. Do you want to stay with him or escape? Note to self that he's bound to hurt you someday. Maybe on accident or purpose. Anyway yes or no?"

Kitten looked from Remulus to the cabinet door. She shrugged. Kitten had grown a great fondness for Eddie over the very short time they'd spent together.
