A lot better since I moved to the USA.
Born and raised in Australia... Sydney to be more specific. Nice place, friendly people, but socially quite closed-minded. Not many opportunities in my industry of choice either (game development and special effects). And furries? Forget about it! To them a furry is a Kangaroo, and not a lifestyle choice LOL!
I came to the US to pursue a game dev job and got accepted! Utah was where I ended up... sure not the best place, but Salt Lake Comic con was AWESOME! Saw a few furries there and smiled on the inside. Wanted to say hi but was with people from work so I didn't. Now I live on the East Coast USA, doing pretty well. Doing work on 3D engines, visual effects for cutscenes, and Oculus Rift.
I will say one thing about the USA: while it may not be the only place in the world with "freedom"... there are different types of freedom I have found, and the freedom I have experienced here is phenomenal! For the first time I don't feel as alone!
