Honestly?

I enjoyed it, but I feel like you gave us a problem (escape the arena) but then just as we started to form plans you gave us the solution for free...
Ignoring that though, it was fun, I look forward to the next section.  :)

Constructive criticism:
- I felt like you needed to be more active to control the thread a bit more (this was probably out of your power)
- the escape shouldn't have been so soon, we didn't have many battles before leaving (This could be partially our fault for breaking out so soon)
- I like how you are including more characters from other people's pasts, you should pm them first though to find out if they have anyone to introduce
- a bigger variety of battles, such as 2v2 or team boss battles or sumo mode (small arena where if your out, you lose / fall down a pit or something)

These arent "DO THIS OR ELSE!", they are just little pointers that could help ^_^

Alka went off for the night, so he probably wanted to get his part out of the way before he went off

either way, I'm going to have a think about how to properly balance my characters, I'm not a huge fan of being the overpowered one :P

Well, feel free to buff yourself for the next arena!
Remember, you haven't really been in combat much yet.. you could modify your fighting style / weapons / strengths before the next episode :P

Ah alright, but the question is, are you going to be a fighter?
You'll need a place if you are to continue in the thread, and helping the fighters probably means you will no longer be a guard.. probably anyways..
