A House Divided

*The books are disorganized, but before long Ray proves to himself, these are not chickens, or any other standard animal. Before long, Ray finds himself in need of a bestiary...*

Ray began his search for a bestiary. He kept searching the disorganized library, hoping he'd get lucky.

*It takes some time... but Ray eventually finds one on a high shelf. looking through it, he finds a passage that matches the egg...*

COCKATRICE

This small creature is a cross between a chicken and a dragon, it has two legs, and 2 wings. with dull brown feathers.

It is notable for being able to petrify someone with a single peck. turning them to stone. while dangerous, many people keep them as pets, guards, and a few farm them for alchemical ingredients. their feathers are used in a variety of potions, rituals, and other such things.

[There is a more detailed description of the Cockatrice, along with a description of their eggs, there is then a long boring passage about their history and possible origins.]

Ray read through the passage, carefully making note of what was important.

*peeks in and looks around softly wondering whats going on*

*Reaches under my bed and pull out a backpack, finding the material I need to make a very simple pouch that's just big enough to contain the collar, tying it to my pants and then leaving the room quickly*


I should probably find somewhere else to stay for a while...

*the book discusses a couple of noteworthy potions, along with how to make them, including: Stone to flesh, Flesh to stone (requires a feather), and a featherfall potion (again, requires a feather)*

*xye walked back into the main area of the house, looking around gloomily*
Anyone? Anyone at all?

Ray stepped out from the library, and waved at Xye. "Hi!"

Ah, hey. How you doing? Everything seems to have gone eerily silent.

[Rayleonarde]

Ray shrugged. "No one really ever talked with me, so I wasn't too worried."

*looks around nervously, and then pulls out the map*
Feel like seeing something cool?

[Rayleonarde]

Ray shrugged. "Sure. I've got nothing to do."

[Kromas Ndorai]

*kro unfolded the map, and indicated to the path and the lodge*
Out the back. I've moved out there myself, but come back for food.

Ray shrugged. "I'm up for it."
