I've recently turned to Morrowind in a final desperate attemp to get my fix of Elder scrollsy goodness. And to my amazement, it works! *knocks on wood and all that*
It's already starting to become on of my favorites, despite me not having those rose-tinted nostalgia goggles most Morrowind fans seem to have glued on their faces. I was already playing Skyrim and Oblivion without quicktravel and mostly travelling on foot, so it wasn't too much of a shock. And I -love- that there are no tiny arrows pointing me to everything and everyon. It's cruel and unforgiving, exactly how I like my games. Oh, and the soundtrack is lovely too. Morrowind main theme has always been my favorite, and the rest of the thing is pretty good too.
The only things I can complain about are the combat system and lack of voiceovers. Both relatively minor things tho.
The voiceover thing is mostly a convenience-thing since I tend to forget how to English when I'm tired. But then again, if I'm tired I should just go sleep instead.
Many seem to agree the combat is a bit stupid, but I can deal with that too even if it tend to make me feel mildly annoyed at times. But that's part of the charm I guess.
I DO confess I've dolled up the game a little with a texture overhaul mod as well as the better bodies and better heads-mods, but other than that I've left the game as-is.
And another silly yet relevant-ish thing that I decided to do. I dug out screenshots of the characters I('ve) play(ed) as the most in all the games I've played (Skyrim, Oblivion, Online and Morrowind)
Spoiler for Some stupid screenshots :
Spoilers within a spoiler. Yeah, you can hate me now<3
Spoiler for Skyrim, 3 pictures :
My first-ever Elder Scrolls-character. A dual-wielding Nord named Cheza. And her husband Vorstag. And Shadowmere.
My "current" and first "properly-played" (No TIM, TGM, carrying capacity changes or even quicktravel) Skyrim character. A Khajiit healer named P'urr. This screenshot is kinda outdated as she no longer wears this kind of armor, but I can't get new ones thanks to Skyrim no longer working on my computer. Serana is hiding somewhere behind her. You might spot her foot if you look close enough.
Needless to say, I'm not a too creative person xP
