Presents for Sinterklaas.

- Could you explain Sinterklaas then?

It's a Dutch and Belgic tradition. In our case, you buy presents for each other of a value around €10 and write a poem you attach to it. On December 5, we sit together as family. Then we read the poems out loud and unwrap the presents we bought for each other. You can also combine the money and use €30 to buy something for the family. Usually nobody is sure about what is bought for whom by who so the surprise can't be spoiled.

Oh cool! We used to do the same for Christmas, just without the poems.

Yeah, it's a bit like that. Just 20 days earlier. And human helpers instead of elves, a horse instead of multiple reindeer and a sleigh, a book instead of a naughty list and other stuff like that.

Weird indeed. But it's tradition. Can't argue.

They're discussing about is the skin colour of the helpers in the Netherlands though. SO some people want to change the tradition a little bit.

Oh yea I've read that. in my opinion saying that the colour matters is more racist than the fact that it's black.

It's just stupid. I'm pretty sure if you don't mention it in the news for a year or 2 the whole discussion will fall silent and people don't care anymore.

Yeah. And everyone will still be smiling when they see little helpers

I lost track of that years ago.

I'd say the latter then.

Probably. I don't really have the list, but I guess it'd be more accurate to write 'society itself' on the list and leave it be.
