Well, I did that multiple times, during games and during work for school.
Running generic algorithms is slow.

Yeah, but I imagine that the strain isn't constant even if you do that.

Oh it is alright.
I have a thing on my desktop that tells me processor usage and memory and stuff.
2gigs of ram and 90+% of CPU for around an hour.
I guess it's not super constant because it wasn't multi threaded all the way through, but it was still running full time.

Not mentioning gaming for 6 hours with GPU and CPU near maxed out all the time.
They're made to work like that. It's fine, just gets a bit warm. But I never got above like 80C internally I think

Well, the heat was supposed to be expected. Putting stress on it won't do anything on it's own then.

Yeah. Stressing them only increases the heat. Heat can damage them if it's not cooled properly but up to like 90 degrees it should still be fine.
Above they probably have an auto shut off
And I've seen people overclocking their stuff and get to well above 100 and it still works.

Yeeeaaah... Mine are supposed to auto-shut down at 100 C to prevent damage, but I try to keep them below 80 if I can.

That's fair. 80 is a good safe temperature.

That's why. And it also eliminates any chance of an auto-shutdown, so it should be fine.

Yeah.
But really, if you just get some external cooling it should really be fine.

Not sure what else would work though.
Just a cooling mat is good. And they're probably not that expensive
