jump scares for me its a cheap way of scaring without telling the good story
I'd rather be scared from the actual story, backgrounds, and the creepy music scenes used

I'm one of the few that would rather be scared in horror movies - otherwise it's not a horror movie but more of science fiction.

True. But as far as I know with my limited knowledge of horrors it's about tension. You know it's a horror movie, you know it's scary. But it's not. You watch it, learn the story, but it's not scary! What's going on? It gets spookier and spookier, music rolls, scenes get darker but it's still not scary and you can't handle it anymore. And then you get the jumpscare and its twice the spookiness XD
