King Candy held his head, both in disgust and irritation, as a survivor from one of the outlying gingerbread villages, which had been destroyed, pleaded for protection. He looked out the window, as the case was made, his thoughts wandering to a time when he and the Lord Licorice had been at peace.
Ray stood, near the front entrance of the Candy Castle, watching the King give audience to a villager. He sighed, and checked his armor. The caramel carapace glinted slightly in the golden rays of the sun. His weapon, a large lolli-ax, was polished to perfection. The young knight shifted slightly, keeping himself upright and in good posture.
