Geoff opened his eyes and gazed about his room. His vision was still clear and... he could see a hint of more color now. He grinned wide. He may not even need to visit Alka again if it continued improving at this rate. Good. The poor guy deserved his rest after what he did to help him. Geoff felt bad that he caused him all that trouble. For whatever reason, many people were willing to help him out with things despite the risk for them. He didn't feel he deserved it.
Just in case, Geoff put on his sunglasses before turning on his phone and dimming the screen. He checked the date.
12th of September. It would be his mother's birthday today. It was she who planted the seeds of his creativity. She passed away when he was about eight years old, and he didn't really want to dwell upon what she might think of him if she could see who he grew up to be. The idea of her watching him from the afterlife didn't make him feel comfortable like it did for most people. Quite the opposite, in all honesty. He did miss her, of course. He tried his best to pull his mind away from the thought of her; He was about to go downstairs, and he didn't want to risk people seeing him crying like a cub. He made himself look ridiculous enough the past few days...
