Glancing out toward the desert, Laharin took note of the sand beginning to shift in waves and immediately felt his heart leap into his throat. What Ghost had said just before departing immediately left his mind as he remembered the warning that had been sent out.
Swallowing, he noticed that the natives were beginning to set out sheets of rock and was unsure if he should try getting onto one of them or enter the hut with the two incapacitated aliens on his back. Of course, he thought, the latter would likely create more of a misunderstanding than there already is, so he decided to take the risk and bolted for the nearest one.
Then he remembered: his gun was still out there. He decided that if he had to, he would fly to where he had left it and pray that he was able to break it down before those giant worms could make a meal out of him. It was too important to him to let the monsters take it, but at the same time he would be risking his life--a move that may be considered unnecessary to brass.
