Name: Silas Brekke
Age: 47
Species: Genetically modified Alsatian (German Shepherd)
Class: Closest thing that I can think of to his skills and abilities is a witcher (though, rather than blatantly stealing, I shall call them "Vorsord" From the Armenian "Hunter"), from the video game (and book) series of the same name. There's also a TV show, but we don't talk about that
. He's basically an extremely skilled swordsman, monster hunter, who dabbles in magic. Technically not magic, but "signs".
Power scale: maybe... 5.6. without his signs, he's a solid 4.
Description: Top to bottom: Silas has softly pointed ears, going down to his ears at a slight angle, flaring out near the base, shrinking back down as it touches his skill. His eyes, turned to that of a cat as a part of his mutations, glow a soft gold. His forehead slopes down at an abrupt, straight angle, ending in a straight, square muzzle. He has no hair, but that is not due to his mutations, that is due to choice. He has a rather thick, muscled neck, sitting on top of a set of broad, strong shoulders. His chest, arms, and legs, are all covered in a myriad of scars, from a myriad of things. Those scars sit atop a coat of sleek, jet black fur. If one would care to touch it (And he lets very, VERY few people do so), one would find it quite soft. His arms are thick and muscled, ending in a pair of strong, clawed hands. Said claws are naturally rather dull, but, Silas has taken to sharpening them on a semi regular basis, giving them a coating of silver. All that does, is give them a barely noticeable shine, and give Silas a last ditch weapon, in case he looses his swords. Which never happens. but, as his old instructor Vesemir once said "The surprising is only a surprise because you don't expect it. so expect everything."
His tail curves out ever so slightly, leaving just a small bit of fluff. Said tail is there to help him remain balanced on a set of strong, digitrade legs.
History: Silas most likely wasn't born to that name, or even the nationality that said name connotes. Vorsord are all orphaned children, and, contrary to rumor, are not taken from any parents (who all loved their children so much!), who's children had suddenly disappeared. As such, said children are usually found in, near, or around war zones. Said places have a tendency to cause orphans. It's a sad, but true fact. Silas is, as you could guess, one of those children. His parents were ended by a Tsendian soldier, quite angered that Silas's father would not oblige his (quite gentlemanly) requests to wed (in much, much more crude, vulgar terms) his wife.
Silas was found, mewling and crying in his crib by a Vorsord hired to deal with some corpse eaters that have been terrorizing the local villages. Said Vorsord (who's name Silas never learned) took him in, and he was inducted into the wolf school. He was taught almost all forms martial arts, from ones that require just his arms, to ones that require swords, to spears. He also learned almost all there is to know about monsters, ghosts and spirits. He also dabbled in various alchemical things (to distinguish what was done by a human from what was done by a monster)
Once he reached the age of about 17, and completed his training, it was decided that his training was complete.
He was given a mix of alchemical herbs that directly affected his nervous system. Said herbs have an extremely high chance to give him one of the most painful deaths possible. Luckily, Silas survived, and gained lightning quick reflexes as a result, in addition to a heightened sense of smell, sight, touch, hearing, and even taste.
After that, Silas stayed at his place of training for a few weeks, to recuperate. Then, a random place was chosen to send him, quite literally throwing him out on his ass.
He went to the nearest village, and did as his training told him. He looked to a notice board, and started killing Monsters.
Equipment: He wears a coat of plates, with Dimetrium (said to be thrice as strong, and rare, as steel. But, however you temper it, it has extremely poor qualities when you're looking into making a blade) plates riveted to the inside. The cloth of his coat of plates reaches to about his ankles, with Dimetrium Chainmail (riveted to a tough leather weave) reaching down to his knees. His shoulders are guarded by Dimetrium Pauldrons, and his forearms sandwiched between a pair of dimetrium plates. His gloves are a relatively thin (But tough) leather, in order to maintain maximum mobility of his wrists, and to allow him to use his signs.
Silas has two swords on his back, one steel, one silver. One for monsters, one for humans. They are both of an extremely high quality alloy, that is not exactly steel. A closely guarded witcher secret. No-one but the Vorsord know. To the rest of the world, it is steel.
Both swords are of the "Bastard", or "hand and a half" variety, that is, they are midway between a Longsword, and a shortsword. It has a specialized grip, giving enough space for just one hand near the crossguard, and a thinner, less ergonomic grip to encourage the user to grip it around the pommel.
Noteworthy gear: A pendant in the shape of a wolf's head, which vibrates in the presence of magic.
Noteworthy skills: He is an extremely skilled swordsman; one of the best. And that is without his enhanced senses.
He is also one of the best trackers in the land, second only to his master in Vorsord school.
He is also has quite a bit of stamina, speed, and strength compared to your average person's.
His signs seem like magic, but aren't technically so. Magic is technically only usable by a select few. His signs require only concentration, and the memorization of certain hand gestures.
(Im just gonna copy the signs from the witcher wiki cos I'm getting tired. I'll fix it tomorrow!)
– a telekinetic wave that can throw back, knock down or stun an opponent. This sign can also be used to destroy obstacles, for example crumbling walls or stacks of barrels. |
|
– a gush of flames that wound opponents. When upgraded, the sign has a chance of incinerating opponents and has a larger area of effect. It can also be used to detonate flammable gases emitted by some bombs. |
|
– a magical trap placed on the ground, which will wound and immobilize opponents. The sign's basic level allows you to place a single yrden sign on the ground. After upgrading it, you'll be able to place up to three yrden signs at a time. These will work in unison, creating an impassible barrier. |
|
– a protective shield that lasts for 30 seconds at the sign's basic level. It is a sign that Geralt uses on himself – quen absorbs all damage directed at Geralt, and the upgraded version reflects 50% of the damage back toward to enemy. While quen is in effect, Geralt cannot regenerate vigor. |
|
– a charm placed on an opponent. If the charm attempt is successful, the enemy will become your ally for a short while, fighting at your side. |
|
Flaws and weaknesses: he just plain tends to not like mages. He had had onky a few negative experiences, and they had hardly affected him at all. But honestly, he doesn't really know why. He also has quite the penchant for these Tsendian inventions called "Cigars" He also is quite the lone wolf, believing that he alone is one of the few competent people around. As he says "I would rather trust a beast than a man."
