One soldier ran off, and the other followed. I was alone, but I still sensed something in the trees. A few leaves glided down by my feet, and my thoughts were almost confirmed. There had to be something up there - and even if it was a measley bird it would still mean food.
I flew up the tree. It wasn't very tall, but it still had enough leaves and branches to hide something. My eyes glowed a bright yellow as I searched in the dim light of the moon, but found nothing. I climbed down, but stumbled at the bottom, as I fell over something at the tree's base. The fall caused me to close my eyes, and my light was lost. I thought I saw some kind of figure - but it seemed like a trick of the light.
Still determined in my search for the sound, I climbed the tree again. I didn't risk my wings, incase they caused noise or for the creature - whatever it was - to be startled and flee. Eventually I came to a branch where there was definetely something on it. It didn't seem dangerous, nor did it seem human, but still I cautiously apporached it, baring my blood stained teeth.
