To Kill a Mockingbird is a great book, and so is Catcher in the Rye.

Much of the time, I will remember a story but not remember the title, and it drives me nuts.

Apparently should have been around for the early furry fandom too because they were more into progressive scifi, fantasy, etc. Golden age of comics and graphic novels, apparently. Back then: creativity, now: repetition of common manga esque styles mostly. I also miss classic animation, though, there's something about the expressiveness that I liked more. I like furry characters that include some of that expression that is known to work.

According to history, it's not exactly abnormal to see a shift in artistic preferences. The most recent swift changes were made in the last 20-30 years.

* Kaiyo can't see any shifts, furry fans didn't change, but other fandoms like disney, sparkledog, mlp, sonic, pokemon, Digimon and were has infused but those aren't actually furry so it's just a case of new people confusing manga/flash animation with western comic art of "seRious fuNNy animals" which is a different genre. Anthro Manga is called kemono not furry  So there's just several groups of self-claiming furries who've sewed the different fandoms together so people end up arguing the term but original furries were different. but, say, Digimon are not furries, nor are Digimon fans necessarily claiming as furries even it they RP as a nonhuman chara. Fred Patten has written on this extensively :3

I still believe that to be furry you have to like anthropomorphic animals, but some people only like a certain "group" of anthro characters.

>I believe

a furry is not entirely dedicated to only one group of characters. Examples include: Pokemon, Digimon, My Little Pony, or any game/movie/series.

Digimon etc aren't anthropomorphic though, they're monsters very few come in line with human at all just like Pokemon. A monster is not an animal mad to look human but various parts of animals human and non as well as shapes and elements and objects. Earlier furries never said anthropomorphic they just expressed a liking for serious as opposed to comical animal characters in comics. Many early works were not anthropomorphic in form such as the space dog trilogy and even kemono like Kimba the white lion was a quadruped. Furry is only anthro stereotypically but the RP community enjoys appear with animal form coming from being a human which is a therianthropic/zoomorphic ideal.

Prior to furries, and many non-furries love personified animals it's not a culture specific thing. Furry just acts as a bandwagon for the listed series, like it's a cool word.
