I've got a mountain of dishes to wash.
It's going slowly.
I should try and move some drinking glasses, cups and cutlery to the top shelf where I can't easily reach them to prevent things from piling up like this.

How about just teaching yourself to do the dishes everyday, rather than once a month?

I'm -not- washing dishes only once a month, I actually only have six plates (two cereal bowls, two large flat ones and two larger deep ones) easily reachable to keep my laziness from coming back to bite me
The problem is that I have way too many drinking glasses, cups and cutlery laying around.
So rather than just using the same glass/cup for my drinking water throughout the day, I take a new one way too often.
Same with butter knives and coffee cups. Rather than using the same one or washing it off immediately, I just toss it into the sink and leave it there.
Before long, I have half a million cups/glasses and endless amounts of forks/knives/spoons that need washing.
And I absolutely loathe having to wash large amounts of cutlery >->


I think having maybe ~4 glasses and ~4 cups and ~6 (tea)spoons/forks/knives should be enough to keep this kind of mess from building up.

You can litterally just get one cup, and drink from it only, because there's noone else in the house with you to take it! Why don't you take that luxury that's offered to you!?

Needless to say, I quite envy you living by yourself...

How do you have friends over, while having piles of dishes just littering your kitchen?

Because most of my friends are just as lazy as me :P
I don't care about their messy kitchen, and they don't care about mine.


And in the event that someone were to complain, they are more than welcome to deal with it for me!


Seriously, it's just a few plates and a bunch of other stuff.
It's not like some sort of huge smelly pile of stuff with dried in or rotting food on it.
No matter how lazy I am, I still do my best to rinse stuff off so that they don't get gross.
Especially in the case of glasses and cups.
I usually only drink coffee or water, so nothing weird or smelly there.
Sometimes I drink chocolate milk, and that's a bitch to clean up if it gets to dry, so I rinse the thing immediatly.
Sure, there might be a bunch of stuff waiting to be washed occasionally, but it's no health hazard.

Yeah, in that case it doesn't really matter.

I'd personally kinda just feel embarrased, but that's just me... I guess I think it'd shows my guest that I'm incapable of handling the "adult stuff", but yeah, that works too...

But damn, tho... I don't have a place of my own yet...

And, I'm affraid that the idea I originally had with just living on a small boat, or even a camper, wich was quite realistic, even with me, somewhat lacking the income to support an appartement, is now out of the question...

Because now, I'm owner of an "Evil and dangerous replica firearm that looks soo scary it can kill you regardless off the fact that it can't shoot a projectile at any lethal velocity", soo, I'm lawfully obligated to have a solid aderess with a safe to store it in, and such...

Meh, the only reason I have  a place of my own is because the state was legally forced to ensure I had somewhere to go after I turned 18 and had to leave the orphanage :P
If I'd have gotten to chose for myself I'd have stayed at home a few more years since I clearly wasn't ready for all the things.
Still don't feel like I am, but I don't really have much of a choice at this point.
