How do you do that??  XD  I once had quite a few panfish, and managed to kill em all in a bucket. I don't really grieve over fish, and was mainly upset since we were going to have fried fish.  XD Sorry fishies!

It hapened when I was 8 years old, or something, that's what happens. :P

Kiddos just feel guilty a lot quicker. Especially for really small and somewhat cute little fishies...

When I fished at about eight, I managed to catch my cousin's foot. Him being like 5'3 at the time, is still my biggest catch.  X3

I caught a small-ish rock once.
It was all tangled up in seaweed and my lure got tangled into that.

I consider that the height of my fishing career.

How did you managed to do that!? 0_o

I guess the height of my fishing career was when I went icefishing with some friendly man, in Finland...

I was realling stacks of those fresh water fish. Must've been more than 30 of 'em all by myself...

They were quite tasty! <3

Wasn't reeling in fast enough so the lure started dragging on the seafloor.
Not all that hard.

Oooow, wait, that's the kind of fishing where you use something like a fake fish, and drag it trough the water so it attracks larger fish that want to eat the fish?

Yeah! I know something about fishing! :D

In that case, yes, that sounds like a common mistake...

Worst mistake I ever made was fishing with one of those cheap bamboo fishing rods...

Me, catching a big fish was a big worth, because, actually, the fish swam away with half of my fishing rod... :I

Yup, something along those lines.

Grandpa often scolded me for starting to reel in too quickly, which causes the lure to not be able to sink deep enough for the fishies to get interested, so I probably waited a bit *too* long that particular time.

Was that one of the first times you've fished?

Cause I'd say it's a little weird to start someone off with (I believe it's called windfishing) before having them get a hang of just regulair fishing...

My dad's been wanting to fish with me and my sister for quite a long time as well...

Guess I should go after that, given that it'd likely make mah ol' man happy, 'n stuff! >_>

@Rf

Nah...

It's just rather evident that you've never fished before! :P

Some people swear by it, but then again, some people swear to football, soo, it doesn't really matter...

Nah, have been fishing with a regular rod for as long as I can remember, got taught how to use those slightly more advanced rods when I was 9-10.
I wasn't particularly patient when I was 9-10 tho, so reeling too quickly happened quite often even after several lectures about how to fishing rod, because "erhmagerd the excitement imma catch all the fishies"

And I don't think there's anything embarrassing about that.
I feel I'm in a league of my own, fishing despite absolutely hating the taste and even smell of prepared fish. >->
But hey, we had plenty of cats back then, they appreciated it!

Peace and tranquilty seems to be pretty essential for fishing, so I guess it's understandable you don't catch too much fish if you're excited about catching fish...

Thinking of that, again, really makes me want to learn some more actual stuff like machining, or arts'ing, but right now, I've really not gotten the time for it... >_<

I should really go to sleep, though...

I'll probably hear that I have to finish 4 more assignments in a few hours, tomorrow...

Yaaaaaaaay... :|

Goodnight, y'all!

Wouldn't say it's as important for this particular style of fishing as it's a lot more active than the regular kind. Or, at least I don't find it to be peaceful the way I do the other style.
That said, I kinda prefer the usual style for that reason. It's nice to just sit there on the dock and just stare at the float for hours on end, regardless of if I catch something or not.
Unless it's dragonfly season, in which case the other style is better. Those freaks of nature don't go that far out to sea. >_>

Caught plenty enough fish once the initial excitement wore off and I learned how long to wait and where all the good spots are.
I even started to join in on setting and retrieving fishing nets later on.
Never had a chance to really learn that tho, because things and stuff.

Actually been years since my last good proper fishing trip.
Should try to trick my brother into joining me for one at some point before it gets too cold.
As I'm naturally not allowed to borrow the boat alone. Nope.
Not ladywoof-appropriate.

Tho then again, perhaps if this winter gets really cold and the ice gets nice and thick, perhaps there could be ice fishing instead?
I've only done that once, as an impatient tinywoof.

Yeah, not lady-woof appropriate? :P

I actually think you're not allowed to borrow it alone because lady-woof is a rather appropriate candidate for drowning...
Don't take this the wrong way, I don't expect you to be stupid, but the dangers of being on water are almost universally underestimated, and it's never a good idea to go on a body of water alone, Especially with a motor powered vessel.

Even I don't do it...

Furthest I've ever been with my dinghy, alone, is circumnavigating a small island, my parents were moored off at, and maybe just taking a peek out the piers, in a few harbours we've been. But even then, never at the very least without a lifejacket, and a working cross-anker with enough cable, Because that shit is dangerous...

And then you encounter a wild bunch of kids, with their unimpacted sense of invurnability think it as a good idea to take a rented open 6 meter sailboat out on the lake just after a tornado was seen...

And old man tried to warn them to not go out on the lake, but "naaah, it can't be that dangerous!"

Not 5 minutes later the gale following the tornado hit, and we saw all of them hit the drink next to their capsized little rental...

If it wasn't for a motorcruiser that happened to be nearby at the time, to pick them up, those lads would've been in a whole new world of trouble. Being hypothermia...

Don't underestimate that stuff... Even little boats in little ponds can kill...
