I'm not saying that your kids need 24/7 surveillance and every obstacle removed from them, such that you don't have but a single moment to check your socials, but they are your kids, ya know?

Yeah, I like to think that kids can talk with their parents whenever they can, but at the same time, they need their space.

You'll feel that when you get a 4 year old girl that talks all the time and demands verbal comfirmation to litterally everything she says, or she just going to repeat it over and over again untill you finally respond, yeah...

Unfortunately you have to ignore that kind of stuff while balancing an act of trying to care for them, without making them too needy or too demanding.

I think you just need to come clear for that...

It takes good parenting.  Some people have it naturally, and some people don't.

I've spend quite some time taking care of kids by now, so I feel like I somewhat have the secret, but I don't have time to write it down atm as I need to go shower for a coworker's party now... >_>

I've tried to take care of many children over the years or at least show them that someone cares about them. Sometimes parents are gone all the time and the kids don't get enough attention, some attention is needed.

Not being clear with kids is the biggest problem I see most often.

Most parents nowadays seem to think it's mean to think that it's mean or cruel to "show your kids who's boss", even though it doesn't have at all. Kids are still young, still learning and developing, and don't really understand what's going on in this humble little life, so if you don't come clear with them, and if you're not a hard parent in one way or another, then you'll end up with a kid that has learned that crying and screaming is the most effective way to get things done...

And, you know what's cruel? If that very kid grows up and reaches the tough life that's not being a kid whilst still thinking that crying and screaming is the best way to get things done...

Yeah, that is a pretty bad thing to see. I think one of the scarier things is that people are reaching adulthood and not knowing how to cook, clean, or pay bills.

Just to clarify, I'm not talking about beating your kid...

I'm more talking about how sometimes the argument has to be "because daddy [redacted] said so" or that sometimes daddy has to actually leave the cinema in the middle of a movie and put the kids to bed because they won't stop being a nuissance, just to show them that daddy isn't making loose trheats...


Would be a little bit awkward if I just left and people actually thought that I was talking about beating kids... XS

I didn't even consider that as a possibility. I think kids have to learn to respect people on their own, in some way.

I encourage discussion and am open to be questioned by my cubs as a general rule, but they know when I've made a decision and I have my reasons that that's the end of it and it's time to get on board.


Because I'm not always "because I said so" that when I am there must be a reason and if they're lucky they'll find out later when time allows.

Shure, kids can learn respect on their own, but I think that there's a line at obedience and good behaviour.
