Only "efficient" way I found to pay back Nook was by fishing for Red Snappers and other valuable fish.

Problem with fossil digging is that each fossil is generally worth only about 5,000 bells and there's only at most about 5 or 6 fossils you can "find" per day. 2 or 3 of which will be a "junk" item, so it just seems to me that $3,000 fish x15 sounds more profitable, which can be done easily in one hour in the right season.

You only have to reset the game once to get Resetti to appear lol, he even appears on the Wii and DS versions, if you reset the game 3 times I think, you have to start completely over on Animal Crossing :P
