I feel like a bad person, everyone's so lovely to me here...



I broke my braces and had to go to a dentist's here in Sweden, I was worried I'd get turned away or they'd make me get loads of documents...I arrive, Timmy's stepdad explains the situation and they fix my braces, give me a checkup, and replace corroding sections for free...when asked if they wanted payment or we had to fill out forms they just went "nah, it was a slow day, you're on holiday, and it's out of good will". My heart, much like the Grinch's grew 10 times that day. I said "tack så mycket!" and left with a repaired smile.


Later, Timmy needed rubbing alcohol for his pc and although we searched for the store we couldn't find it. We asked a local place and they gave us some they didn't need for free.


On the way home from the pool the bus driver was very understanding of my little Swedish and helped a lot, on the way off the bus I said "tack så mycket" and he looked surprised, then smiled. It made my day -and- his I think...

Timmy found it hilarious that when we got off a local bus (which has several doors) I was confused at how people were able to say "thankyou" to the driver. He told me people just don't and that busdrivers don't really get "thankyou"s. I felt dirty for not saying words of thanks...and for some reason whenever I say 'thankyou' which in Swedish is 'tack' people act all surprised like I'm validating their lives or something 


(It is 4 letters, Swedes, if Brits can be like 'thankyou' and you can do the same in 4 letters, do eet dammit xD)

I try to say thank you as much as possible to bus drivers because it's not a good idea to offend someone who is controlling a vehicle you're in that's going 60+ mph.

Yeah, and in the event of a bomb that prevents the bus from slowing down the busdriver has to handle that too!


If I was a busdriver I'd drive the funk bus, kiddies, and just sorta lapse into old timey jazz voices and Morgon Freeman impersonations.


E.g.


'this is your stop, thousands of heartbeats and breaths, steps and tears, have lead you to here. A cosmic uncertainty spiralled into your beautiful and sporadic existance so that here, on this day, you are you."




I'd make it a mission of mine to have each passenger thinking solemnly by the time the doors swing open.


"this is your stop...no...this is a beginning, this is just the beginning of a vibrant and unpredictable chapter of your life, and within these tattered pages of existance you too...shall feel complete."


The bus'd always be late as a metaphor for life's eventualities and disappointments...
