I'm having a problem being a furry...
« on: November 05, 2015, 05:16:49 PM »
My problem is that I just can't seem to truly enjoyed myself. What I mean is that, I like being a furry and having a fursona. However the problem I run into is that I'm ashamed oh being one. Since ever OC or simply anything creative I do feels like a distraction from the pain of being weak and stupid. Now I understand i'm who ever I make myself to be, but I just can very be pleased with my work or choices.

And as much as I enjoyed being on this forum and chatting away, I can't help but feel that what i'm doing is unhealthy. I run from my problems and can't seem to make things better. I know that I sould try seesing a counslor, but everytime I do I feel worse about myself. So I just don't know what I should do.

You should stop worrying about what others think of you and they don't even do it often

I come on this forum when I want. It's my forum profile. Nobody on here will stop me from venting, asking questions, etc.  And if y'all are gonna be jerks just because I'm trying to get my point across, leave me alone! Think before you type! Think on the other side of the conversation! How would you feel if you were getting yelled at because you are first world venting about your life, huh? I know y'all are trying to help, but- OH LAWDIE THAT'S A LOT OF WORDS.

I would give you advice, but you seem to already be doing what I would've said to.

Rasha, dear, a little escapism is perfectly healthy. Everyone does it to some degree be it through books, games, or roleplaying like yourself, but yes, never ever neglect yourself, always keep pushing yourself in the right direction and seek what's best to do so. :) What you're doing is fairly normal little guy.

I feel you Rasha. Or rather, I felt like you. When I first started to become a furry, I felt really weird, and felt like it was wrong. But I faced it, and now I love being a furry, and I see nothing wrong with it. And you shouldn't either :)
You gotta do, what makes you happy, and if being a furry is that thing. Do it, and don't care about how other people feel about it ^_^

I have been into being a furry for a long time. It took me 6 years to finally be open about, and that is just on the internet. I told some friends of mine I am going to a furry convention and well I didn't except them to be so alright about it. Sure, they told me it was weird, but they were totally cool about it. I always thought I would be judged and that they just would not look at me the same. Trust me, If they really are your friends they will be the same way. Tell one of your most trusted friends that you are into being a furry and I promise you they will say it is slightly weird, but be totally cool with it.

Don't just stop doing what you like just because of what other people think about it, it may seem unhealthy but this is one most harmless fandoms out there, in the end simply focus on what you enjoy doing and don't let other people's opinion ruin something you like.
