As Ave walked down the halls to Biology class with Kasai, he couldn't help but notice just how eventful the day had been. Forreal, he couldn't have asked for a better first day. Gauge, spineless shit he was, had still almost started something (and he was already hearing whispers as he walked of another something, some meeting with Dancyon or something). Classes were fine, and he'd met a wolf a girl who had at least piqued his interest a little. Things were looking up.
On their way to class, they passed first by Gauge, who looked, as always, pissed. Ave made brief eye contact with him before turning away, deciding he probably didn't want to get involved with whatever it was that had set Gauge's fur a-waving. At least, he didn't want to be involved yet.
Then, as they reached the classroom, another student, the Sergie from earlier, walked out. Her paws pounded on the linoleum floors, her eyes glowing slightly, claws ever so visible beneath her fur. She was pissed. And she walked directly towards where Gauge had gone.
It didn't take any sort of genius to guess, with a likely modicum of accuracy, that the two departures from the classroom were related. So now, Ave puzzled again if he should get involved. The Sergie was pissed at Ave - okay, for what? Something he'd said, no doubt. Or maybe the way that he'd apparently laid it down on the green fox (word travelled fast). Likely anger from the both, 'cause Sergies weren't exactly known for their skill at meditation, if you caught his drift.
Ave and Gauge were in separate packs, didn't even live in the same neighborhood, had really no relation of any kind to each other. So Ave had no reason to get involved on any of those fronts. But he could always go and help, if just for the hell of it. He'd a newfound appreciation for Gauge from this morning's events and what he'd heard since then. Standing up to Dancing-on like that? That was pretty tight. And who knew, Gauge could always make a nice, blunt instrument in the future. Ave could-
His thoughts were interrupted by yet another departure from the classroom - and this one truly was thought-interrupting. A white fox with obviously pronounced scars on both cheeks, he looked like a childish rendition of a nightmare. Or something. Either way, they made him hideous, and Ave made little attempt to disguise his staring as the fox moved quickly passed him and Kasai to go outside into the halls, also heading off in the direction of Gauge and the Sergie.
Walking wordlessly with Kasai into Biology, he sat down next to her, smiling again at her and nodding, putting on the same look that wooed the other girls at the school. Turning, he saw Mr. Knight glance at him for his late arrival as the green fox - who didn't look as bad as Ave had heard - walked out of the classroom. Seemed nobody wanted to be here.
Returning the teacher's glance, Ave narrowed his eyes slightly as he looked at him. He friggin' hated having to learn under a fangless feline. And Knight hated him in equal measure. But just as Knight didn't engage with him over the late arrival (at least, he didn't appear to have intentions to do so), Ave didn't do anything to purposefully piss him off. They could just tolerate each other and be on their way. Fine with him.
Already, Kasai had pulled out a stick of gum, which she chewed, and was playing a game on her phone, looking bored. Leaning over to elbow her, Ave nodded at the door, wanting to test her opinions. "So," he started, "what did you think of all that? Looks like greenie's going to help his girlfriend, the Sergie, huh?"
