Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

HQ was silent a moment in thought. "...Get suited up, take someone with you and investigate. Maybe something survived."

Ray, who heard the order, dismounted and headed for the side of the APC, moving to grab the MOPP suits stored in the side compartment.

[Cyprus Alpenglow]

Cyprus took a quick look towards the town before swallowing and nodding, despite the fact that HQ could not see it.
"Copy that, HQ. We'll move for the town in five."
Hopping off of the tank, he turned back up to the commander.
"We need a vehicle to take us closer, but everyone else stays here. Stay alert, we might need you at any time." he ordered, while moving up to Ray's side and helping him retrieve the suits.

The APC was quickly emptied, all but one crewman. The crewman remaining sealed the hatch, and waited for the two to enter.


Ray finally released the MOPP suits, and dressed quickly.

Cyprus did the same, changing into his own MOPP suit and loading his weapons once again. Stepping into the back of the APC, he made sure to check his suit over once more before radioing in to HQ once more.
"HQ, we're heading out. We'll give word once we get there, over."

"HQ copies all, but radiation may interfere with radio communication."


Ray stepped into the back of the APC, and closed the ramp behind him. After a few moments, the APC started moving, turning around to enter the blast-zone.

Standing in silence as they approached the town once again, Cyprus kept his weapon at the ready.
"There's not much chance that there will be any contacts, but keep your eyes open." he spoke, adjusting a strap on his mask. "I want to try and make this quick; I don't want to be in a nuclear blast zone any longer than you do."
Grinning, he gave Ray another pat on the shoulder.
"Some first mission, huh?"

Ray nodded, slowly. "Y-Yes sir. Didn't think I'd have to get a glimpse at Chernobyl."


The APC pulled up to the town's outskirts, and parked. "This is as far as I go, sir! The electronics are freakin' out, so the door might give you some trouble!"

Pressing the button to open the door, Cyprus rolled his eyes when absolutely nothing happened. Pulling on the emergency release handle, the locks disengaged, allowing him to drop the door with a relatively light kick. After stepping out onto the town's edge, it didn't take long for him to locate an entry point. He slapped hard on the side of the APC, and it accelerated away from them, the door still open. The driver could shut it remotely. Probably.
"Okay, we're going to head in through that alley." he spoke, pointing towards it. "We keep quiet, and we keep alert. We're looking for anything that they might have left behind, or the detonation didn't destroy."

Ray nodded, and checked his rifle. "I don't suspect much survived, infected or otherwise."

[Cyprus Alpenglow]

"You never know." Cyprus replied, moving towards said alley. "They might have sent a clean up team."
Settling his mask, he thought for a moment. He shook his head before taking off at a brisk walk.
"Yeah, you're right. Chances are they're confident in their explosives, but still keep an eye open."

Ray nodded, and kept his eyes peeled. After a few minutes, the young raccoon perked up, and spoke. "I think I got something." He made his way towards the burned out husk of the black-site. On the wall was, oddly, the logo of the once-terrifying Umbrella Corporation.

[Cyprus Alpenglow]

"What?" the lieutenant mumbled, looking over the logo in disbelief. After a quick scan of what remained of the black site, he turned back to the symbol. "This doesn't make sense. Umbrella collapsed way back when, so what link does it have here?"
After a few more seconds of deep thought, he shook himself out of his stupor and gestured to the site around him.
"We're looking for anything intact, or salvageable. No matter how small it might be, we need it." he ordered. "Not that we'll find anything, but it's worth a shot."

Ray nodded, and slid into the pit that once was the black-site. He began scrounging around, one paw wielding the rifle.

[Cyprus Alpenglow]

Several minutes of searching passed, Cyprus leaning his rifle against a wall as he dug through rubble to try and find anything of interest. A few pieces of scrap metal here, and some glass there, he couldn't find anything of significance. The search was arduous, and Cyprus had taken a quick breather by propping himself up against a nearby surface as he panted.
"Recruit." He huffed. "You found anything yet?"

Ray grunted in response, and pulled out a VERY radioactive case. It had apparently survived the blast, as it was lodged in the very foundation of the black-site. He held it up, smiling. "I think this is something."
