Striding past a long-since emptied fountain, Cyprus' hands shook as he scanned the buildings for any sign of where the mutant might have gone. So far he'd been unlucky, finding absolutely nothing but corpses of the infected slain by the other squad of agents while they were searching for intel. He'd pulled ahead of the other agents, his blood boiling, his heart aching to get revenge on the cold bastard who'd kill civilians without a single thought.
That's when he heard the guttural, primal cry of something much, much more significant.
Freezing in his tracks, he stopped and turned, looking back towards the pillar of smoke rising from the helicopter crash site. Looking to the sky for a few tentative seconds, he looked to his squad and started inspecting faces, counting how many people he could recognize.
Ten, twelve, fourteen, fifte-
They were missing someone.
A sharp inhale later, Cyprus took one last look to the road ahead, knowing that Akim was out there somewhere. He vowed that, someday, the mutant would receive what he deserved.
And he turned back around, running to the field once more. Something larger was heading this way, and it had to be dealt with.
((Sorry I'm a little late with a reply, had a bunch of college stuff to do.
I like that idea. I think Ray might be setting this up to have a bit of an encounter with something similar to Popokarimu or even something bigger, so maybe we could do a time skip after that.))
