"Maybe," Markus rersponded, "But what was on that freighter that got their attention?"
"More importantly," Voro added in, "What is the Kazon-Nistrim doing way out here? Their territory is deep in unexplored space. How did they get here, and what was their purpose in coming here?"
Markus stroked his chin as he studied the remains of the Kazon Predator-class Warship. "Serena, think you and Terra can get into what's left of the Kazon ships' computer database?" he asked.
*** Restaurant District, Dragon'taan ***
Kabier and Viktor continued eating when a Galactic News Network report suddenly appeared on TV, depicting a report of a Cornerian Freighter that had been rescued by a Klingon battle group from an attack by the Cardassian terrorists, the True Way, and again by a group of pirates identifying themselves as the Kazon-Nistrim.
"That's odd..." Viktor commented. "What are Kazon doing way out there?"
*** Military District Enclave, Dragon'taan ***
General K'torr walked into the Enclave CIC with Jaesa and said, "Report."
"General," one of K'torr's subordinates reported, "We just received reports from a contact in the Coalition that an alien group called the Kazon-Nistrim has attacked a Cornerian convoy."
"What was in the convoy?" K'torr asked.
"Unknown, sir - the Lord-Admiral is personally sweeping the area to ascertain answers. We know that the freighter was already under attack by Cardassian forces," the Lieutenant responded.
"True Way?" K'torr asked.
"Yes, sir," the lieutenant answered.
"Did the Cardassians and Kazon fire on each other?" Jaesa queried.
"Negative, ma'am," the lieutenant replied, "But, considering the True Way ships were being engaged by Klingon ships when the Coalition and Cerinian ships arrived, there's no reason to assume presently that the True Way and the Kazon-Nistrim are working together."
"Does General Indari know?" K'torr inquired.
"We've been trying to raise him, but his communicator's off," the Lieutenant responded.
K'torr thought fractionally, then said, "I'll tell him myself. Jaesa, stay here and gather what information you can."
"Yes, master," Jaesa responded. K'torr turned and left, heading out to find his Commanding Officer...
