Tips for making a DTD? (Duct Tape Dummy)
« on: March 08, 2016, 05:55:51 AM »
Hey everyone!!

So I was wondering if anybody had any tips when making a Duct Tape Dummy? I probably won't be making one anytime soon but I'm asking now so I can get as much feedback as possible before I actually make one! :)

Any tips are appreciated, thanks! :)

- Have 1-2 people helping you (at least)
- Make sure everyone understands the procedure and are well-prepared
- Don't cut yourself
- Take it slow
- Be careful
- Don't cut yourself
- Be sure you trust those helping you well
- Have multiple people help you
- Don't cut yourself

I -just-  made my first one yesterday actually. I'm 5'3" and it took two rolls of duct tape (like, triple thickness) and my mom wrapped most of me up, and it took about an hour and 15 minutes.
I just wore a tight t shirt and leggings. I had foam for digigrade legs, which were held in place by some tape applied before hand.
I didn't want my clothes to get ruined, so what we did was use the worlds' supply of paper towels (really only a roll if you spread it out evenly, I got 2 just in case :) and wrap a section with the paper towel and wrap the duct tape around -that-,  instead of your clothes. For support for my arms I used wrapping paper that comes in those tubes. And be sure to use the rest room and use chapstick before hand XD
This is the video I followed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhsTAFIwHEw
Good luck!!!

I'm making mine.... it will be fun once I get all the fur fuzz out of my lungs. lol
Oh, if you're making one using a DTD, I'm going to cut mine up and use it for a pattern, but some people use theirs for a mannequin. I'd stuff mine either way to draw the pattern, though. :)
