I found out that I'm Bipolar
« on: May 07, 2016, 10:13:56 PM »
Well... Basically weather effected my mood for the last year or so. I thought maybe everyone's mood was effected a little bit by the weather but yesterday in the morning when it was rainy, and everyone was hyper. I realized that I was the only one with this issue. So I did a bit of research and found out that weather is a bipolar trigger.
I just felt like saying it. I don't feel like telling anyone of my friends, because I don't feel so close to them. >.>

I'm not exactly sure of my own bipolar triggers, but I can tell you that you're definitely not alone in this. And I know how you feel about the friends thing, I'm not particularly close to any of my friends either.

my dad is bipolar ans schizophrenic and all that bad stuff and weather does affects his mood sometimes, but i would really try to stay away from diagnosing yourself of having bipolar unless it was already confirmed by a doctor

I recommend still seeing a doctor, doll. I have an immue disease and the internet is a scary place that blows everything out of portion. I am not saying you are a lair but, talking to a doctor face to face is much more comforting than a computer screen. Also, they can help you in your journey.

taygentigershark is right, the internet does have a tendency to blow certain things out of proportion.

Hope no one minds me butting in here ^^ I've been actually thinking for a while now how to respond, and here it is.

To give some of my own input here: Weather actually does affect most people. When it's winter (where I am), it's a lot darker, the weather is gloomier, less sunlight, etc. People do get tired more often and are generally a bit more down. When it's summer, the opposite happens. There are many reasons as to why, however, if you feel you are affected more strongly than other people, react very different, or just have a general concern, it might indeed be a good idea to see a doctor about it. See if he/she refers to you -preferably first- a psychologist.
I find people go too soon to go see a psychiatrist, as they are also liable to prescribe any medication (what I mean with this is that I believe people prescribe way too quickly for things when it's not needed or actually more bad for the individual in question, just speaking from personal experience though and also been confirmed when studying psychology). However, they both have common grounds. A psychologist will use verbal communication mostly as a form to find the underlying problem and see if -by talking with you about it- there are things that can be done against the problem, if there is one.
A psychiatrist can actually be referred to by a psychologist if they believe indeed you would need a different kind of medical care than the psychologist can provide. That, and you should really make sure if you do take these steps, that you feel you have a good connection with the person you're talking to :)

Glad we could help (:

If they do diagnose something, just remember there are many people out there with a similar issue, and feel free to reach out  (here on the forums or anywhere else).
