@Nyx:  It wouldn't be shown on TV and all the humanitarians would totaly throw a fit simply from it being sujested and the idea of a more brutal and painfull death would thus probably be voted down.. *le sighs*

@Tweak: I wouldn't have thought to put the "Viewer Discretion Advised" warning... It didn't seem like it was really bad enough to earn one of those... But thats just my oppinion..

I didn't think it was that bad, but it's worth being careful.

A more painful death? Hold on, we're killing a guy because he killed people, and the reason we're killing him is because killing is wrong. There's a cliche here. My main point is why kill someone? It makes us just as bad as the original killer, rather they suffer for the next 40 years or so than let them off with just a second of pain.

Because the human species is irrational and violence is a basic instinct? And in leaving him alive the posibility of supporters breaking him out of jail and trying to get him back in power is actualy something that they can do.  Where as with him dead they lose the person that they are rallying arround thus possibly dammaging their moral and making things easier on the troops.  Of cource that could also horribly backfire and he be seen as a mytar then more people rally arround him and it all goes down hill.

And theres also the reasion that i'm a nutcase and i just wanna see someone bite it in the most painfull way i can think of, which they didn't do sadly. *Fights down the urge to go into elaborate detail about what probably happened to his neck when they dropped him..*  =3

I agree with your points there, it could turn both ways, but I still don't believe that capital punishment is the answer.

His neck was broken, plain and simple, that's how hanging works, it breaks the neck and kills the person.

I find it more of an annoyingly depressing subject then worrying... Such flaws are why I've all but legally disowned humanity..

True that they could have possibly found something more usefull to do with him other then kill him, and it's probably not too wonderfull for the new government to kill the head of the old government..

Mmm... Neck broken, wind pipe crushed, possible torn arteries, and the cloth around his neck propably prevended there from being damage to the skin..  Wonderfull way to start the day! ^.^

I just found something out about the execution that i didn't know thanks to an article that was on one of the things that yahoo pops up when started up.

It seems that while Saddam was standing on the gallows some of the people there to witness the execution were heckling him, and despite that he still stayed calm and was acting fairly polite. There wasn't anything on the page that could be considered distubing or graphic that i could see so I'll go ahead and post the link in case anyone else wants to read it for themself.. And now all that's left for me to do is to figure out if my gut's trying to tell me that the dirty diapers are gonna hit the fan or if that's just a cramp..
