Anti-fur trolls?  I know you've heard of em', seen em', even dealt with em.

My question is, how have you dealt with them if you have?

What I do is not bide into their little game of 'I hate you'.  Honestly, I see it as adding fuel to the fire.  Much like the furry discrimination in the world.  I've been refused service at one place here before because the owner heard I was a fur.  Simply put, I responded with a few tactics of my own.  No one on my boat has eaten their since, after I explained to everyone what happened.  Most of the guys on my boat don't understand the fandom, but they at least respect it.  Besides, they're stuck with me three months at a time, so they had to grow used to me.

I simply ignore them... If they want to be stupid, I'm not going to stop them. They're just proving themselves as idiots to the world.

Simple. I flood them with my super-ultra-double-kick foul language. Really strong words... really... to break their fingers and will. Ignorance will not help. They are kids and every calm, shy person is an easy prey. So I mess with them what makes me feel much better ;]

Usually, I get the ones that feel as if hate can be explained with 'txt tlk', so I usually bombard them with 'large words' and logic. :snicker:

i havent really dealt with anti-fur trolls, but then again, im a therian, not a fur... but i have seen them, they always bring out yiff and fursuits, and they are often pretty redneck in their comments, i dont have anything to do with it though, so i stay out of the flamewars

Trolls do what they do to get a reaction out of you. I just ignore or ban them. When they don't get anything out of you they get bored quickly.

I've responded a few different ways.
I've talked back to them.
I've even given into them and ranted back.
I've ignored them.
I've blocked them.
I've reported them.
I've banned them.

I've yet to report them for abuse to their ISP though.
I've not gotten their IP address and used it to control their computer remotely.
I've not posted under their journal user name with embarrassing information.
I've not visited them in real life.

I tend to respond to them with calm intelligent conversation. I call into questioning their beliefs and especially their reasoning behind their beliefs. Large words, proper grammar, and a composed demeanor generally has one of two effects on the troll. Either they will become frustrated and leave, or they will respond likewise and differences can be settled. I once met an anti-fur troll who later converted into a neko after I used this method on her.

Either I tend to ignore them or give them facts about the fandom.  I give them information explaining how it is no different from liking and going as far dressing up like someone or something from their favorite anime, series or movie. ( ex. Star Wars, Star Trek )  It is just people who love animals and or wish to be them.



That and they tend to be morons with nothing better to do but complain.

Let's see... before becoming a moderator, I reported them in the appropriate manner, have gotten insight (from the anti-fur trolls by talking with them in one-on-one sessions) on what they do and how they manipulate people, have researched the basics of their methods, and have come across tactics to prevent those individuals from getting anything from me.

In a nutshell, look in the Forum Rules!! (A must read)>Hate Sites, password protection, and insight into Social Engineering for tips on what goes on inside the mind of someone with malicious intent to troll/socially engineer individuals in forums.

But if you want a straight-up answer for these people: Report them if they are breaking the rules and ignore them after you have reported them. Do not become emotionally engaged to respond to them. If they do contact you through means other than forums, do not reply to them.

some instances I've seen their opening line as "WTF? You're an animal??"  at that point I just leave or make some crude comment on how humans are destroying the planet...

I just play along with them for a short while sometimes...then I'll leave...

or some people that use  "txt tlk" I'll "txt tlk" them back then out of no where I'll talk like a normal person..also people who talk like gangsters in chats and such I can't understand a freaking word...~rents 50-cent's gangster dictionary~
