Sarah nervously strided back and forth over the thin trackwall suspended over the floor, acking for some fresh air. But, she couldn't find any. The air within the concrete structure just felt dead and dusty, regardless of where she was.
There were no lights in the facility either. Or, rather. All the armatures seem to have been burnt down, so everything resided into a perfect darkness, acompanied by a dead silence. The only thing she had was a small working light mounted on a hardhat. But, it was barely powerfull enough to light up the wall on the other side of the space, let alone reach into the seemingly abysmall concrete chasm below.
She was completely sick and tired of being stuck in the structure. And figuring it wasn't getting any better "outside", she uncoupled the hooks from the safety-line, and headed back into the claustrophobic control cabin suspended above the abyss from the wall.
Tools and papers were scattered all over the control cabin's floor, but the switchboards themselves had finally been assembled in the proper way, according to the technical drawing she found, although, there was absolutely no sense in any of the controls on the board. The only thing in the entire cabin that seemed to be doing something was a small, locked, control box in the adjacent, office like room, connected to the main switcheboard, wich eminated a faint ticking sound.
Sarah had already took a closer look at the box, aswell as searched the entire cabin for keys to it's lock. But, she couldn't find any keys, nor anything that could be used to decipher the workings of the installation.
However, just as she got closer to the box, and contemplated about trying to break it open, the ticking stopped...
After a few seconds of silence, a series of relays and EMS units inside the main switchboxes suddenly kicked in, and the components within the switchboard began humming from a strong current passing trough.
Sarah walked back over towards the switchboards to see what was going on, but just as she got to them, the facility was shook by an almost deafening metallic "Whang" that rised from the bowels of the facility and echoed around for almost a second.
Sarah shot upright from the treetrunk against which she had fallen asleep.
Loud, intermitted, buzzing noises were coming from her backpack. She opened it up, and found out that it was her tranceiver. Something had began transmitting a signal, and the tranciever was picking it up. Disregarding the signal, she switched the thing off, and got up from the ground.
As she looked over towards the road, she noticed Stella's car driving along towards "Eastblock town".
This town can't be that small, can it? - She thought to herself, on seeing Stella again.
Still a little dazed from the dream, and the sudden wakeup, she picked up her backpack, and leaned over her motorcycle's saddle, staring over towards the small commune.
Eh... Why the hell not? She thought as she got back onto the motorcycle, and drove down towards the road to the small commune...
