Jayce slowly lowered his paws as he spoke. “N-No...can’t say I’ve seen an officer. Kinda new ‘round these parts.” He shrugged hopelessly. “Why? They AWOL or something?”

Sora managed to follow the both of them, taking notice of them entering the elevator so she would follow them using the stairs, keeping track and pace of the elevator as she made it to the last floor it would stop on. Once the elevator doors were to open for their last-stop, she was right in front of the doors to greet them in her full armor. "Really? If this were any normal job or mission, I'd say the risk outweighs the rescue, but I'm not going to trial over some games you two are playing."

As the elevator rose to the suites, Mesmerin told Emila, "I figure we got a ten, maybe twelve minute window before your squad figures out--" He stopped midsentence when the elevator doors parted and Sora was waiting for them.

Sora managed to follow the both of them, taking notice of them entering the elevator so she would follow them using the stairs, keeping track and pace of the elevator as she made it to the last floor it would stop on. Once the elevator doors were to open for their last-stop, she was right in front of the doors to greet them in her full armor. "Really? If this were any normal job or mission, I'd say the risk outweighs the rescue, but I'm not going to trial over some games you two are playing."

"Long story, not enough time; if you want to help out, great, but otherwise, keep your head down. At this point, Emila is the least of your concerns. If you want to know what I'm on about, look at the news," Mesmerin told Sora.


*** Woodland area ***

"Something like that," Eddie said. "He's been missing since last night, when he was part of a search party looking for a hunter and his son last night. He--" Eddie paused when he looked at an area behind Jayce and spotted a uniform on the ground. "Jay! Jay, that you? You down there?" He moved for the uniform, only to see that the uniform was just that - a uniform, complete with badge, coat, and gun. And it was stained with blood that was...

Eddie realized blood was dripping, and followed the blood trail up to a body, hanging upside-down by his feet in a tree. "... Oh, my god..." The body was that of Jay Adams. He looked to Jayce and Rae. "Can either of you get him down?"

[Mikala]

Emilá grins. “Welcome to the great escape, Commander Dazzel!” She turns to Mesmerin. “I can get us to a neighboring building, follow me.” She runs at a window and pulls off the glass pane, setting it gently to the side. “Jump out the window! Just trust me!” She nods and gestures out the window.

Mesmerin, deciding to trust Emila, goes out the window.

"Why, Sherrif? He's dead..." Rae sighed, her senses picking up something ,but nothing she could determine...

"He at least deserves a proper burial," Eddie said. "And we still have to take him to the coroner to figure out time and manner of death."

[Mikala]

Rae’s compad, ignored in the heat of a tragedy, beeps away showing an indicator next to a window. That indicator takes a deep breath, and looks at Sora. “I’d hurry if I were you.” She leans back out of the window, falling backwards, eyes closed in concentration as the wind runs through her fur. As she and Mesmerin fall, time slows for her as she waits exactly 5 seconds for Sora to jump after them.

She taps on her helmet to bring up a transparent heads-up display, having it set to the local news while they were on the move. "I'll use my line I have with me." she spoke as she puts one of her pistols onto the attach-point on her leg, then she pulls out a line from her belt-pouch and stomps the tip into the floor before jumping out, turning herself about and descends in a military-rappel fashion. Once at the bottom, the tip prongs retract in and her line zips back down to the retraction point in her belt.

Emilá nods and focuses as two of the building’s sturdy glass panels slide off the building and beneath her and Mesmerin, moving with them to slide the pair over to the next building across, landing on the roof soundly. “Alright, lets go!” She nods and heads for the roof access door.

Mesmerin keeps up, keying in a combination into his gauntlet as he went.

Emilá hops onto the stair rail and slides down, a good 20 stories. She gets off at the bottom and exits the lobby casually, finding Commander Dazzel on the ground. “Oh ye of little faith.” She grins.

Sora was watching them along the way, drawing out her second pistol as she kept track of their progress. Once they were at ground-floor, she gives a nod to them. "I didn't think you had such powers, but good to know that now." she spoke. "So exactly what are we up against that we need to 'survive'? I didn't get anything on any local news other than missing people."

"I can figure that out right here." Rae noted as she approached Jay's body, though even as she did  and odd, yet familiar feeling came to her once she got closer to Jay, ignoring the comm pad for now.

If the way Jay's body was strung up wasn't a dead giveaway, the two identical and parallel blade wounds in the man's chest cavity would tell the tale. Jay had been killed by an edged weapon that had two parallel blades, and only one race in the galaxy used such a weapon.

*** Outside Hotel ***

"I'll explain in a secure location, somewhere we aren't likely to be eavesdropped on," Mesmerin said. He looked to Emila. "And where your babysitter squad won't think to look." He hit a button on his gauntlet, and a duffel bag was beamed in front of him. He picked up the bag and moved for an adjacent alley, motioning his head for them to come with him.
