Fursuits?
« on: March 10, 2008, 11:31:11 PM »
I don't understand full fursuits and I was hoping someone could explain it to me. I personally don't like them. I think they take away the sexiness of someone's body. Personally I'd just wear the ears and tail and possibly paws. But... the whole thing? That I don't understand... *shrug* Does anyone else feel like this... or something else "strange" like that? Or can anyone explain to me the beauty or... purpose of a full fursuit? (By the way I'm not trying to be rude or anything like that, I'm just trying to understand...)

Fursuits are not designed to show the sexiness of your own body, but the fursonality and sexiness of your fursona. While wearing a fursuit you are no longer yourself but a represenative of your inner desires, passions and what other like me refer to as their "true self"

^-^ I think I like Lunartaris' answer best... Thanks guys for the responses... just trying to figure out the things I do not understand. *shrug* I kinda like them... it depends on how they look and are made... some of them just look kinda cartoon-ey... But (upon further research) I found that I like some of them...

Fursuits are suits. Whether or not ONE is designed for sex appeal shouldn't be considered when
thinking of fursuits in general. A lot of the time full body suits are just too costly for that or the wearer's body
is incongruent with the character design enough so that a direct translation from original concept
to a functional design isn't possible. But back to my first point. Fursuits in general aren't sex objects.

i never really understood fursuits, if you are talking to someone, you want to see who you're talking too, and if you meet someone, you want to have a first impression, and that shouldnt be a bulky, overpriced suit with no further use whatsoever, sure i understand some people would want to be their fursona, but i doubt this helps them more in that direction. im sorry if i offended anyone, its just my oppinion, i just dont understand the use of fursuits. neither do i think they increase someone's looks.. why? because its not the person you're looking at, its a suit... nah, i understand tails and ears, making yourself closer to your fursona, whilst still letting people know what you look like, making them able to see who they're talking too.

once more, im sorry if i offended anyone, its just my view on this

Sure, a fursuit could affect a first impression of a "human," but conversely, showing one's "human" side can also affect how people see their fursona, which may be something they wouldn't want if they consider their fursona to be a separate side of themselves.

Anyway, I don't think fursuits are for everyone, it's just one of those kind of things that you may or may not like. It's kind of like cosplay. Not everyone who likes anime would enjoy dressing up as their favourite characters either.

here's the thing, you never know who is behind thast mask. that is a definite danger behind the entire fursuit thing. personaly, i'd have my suit made to fit my body like a wet suit, more form fitting. i dislike the loose and baggy ones, they don't give the effect of reality.

Yea, you expect some girl behind vixen's pink fursuit (with rock, umbrella, wings, etc) and bang, you got some fat, hairy, 10-dioptre-glasses Star Trek's fan... ^.=.^''
