those look great, though both suffer from looking quite flat. No sense of depth. But either way, good art, especially on the colours you choose
"Parents always think kids are wasting their youth, and always have done [so] down through the millennia," says Tom Forsyth of RAD Game Tools. "'That Ug, always holding things. His front paws will develop in funny ways. Why can't he walk on all fours like normal proto-hominids?' And so, whatever the kids spend the most time doing, that's always what parents think is a waste of time, and what is corrupting their lives. It doesn't matter what that is. If all they did was homework, parents would be worrying that their kids aren't becoming well-rounded people. And, in fact, parents do this - enrolling math nerds in karate classes and the like. There is no way to win - parental paranoia ensures that kids are always doing the wrong thing."

...

To anyone who cares to look through my art thread:

If you don't know how to critique properly by giving constructive criticism, please keep your negative thoughts to yourself.

I put a lot of time and effort and care into my work. When an artist creates something out of his/her mind, it's often much like baring a piece of their soul to other people. And it's downright insulting when you can do nothing but say "you failed at it". I will not, now nor ever, claim to be perfect at what I do. But I do as much as my skills allow me to do, and I know I'm improving because of the work I put into it. I love hearing about different techniques that let me become better and faster at drawing, and I don't mind being given suggestions on how to improve my work.

But just telling me that the artwork fails in some way, is garbage. 80% of the time, if there's a flaw with the artwork, I've already seen it. It's just not fixed because I don't know how to fix it. Telling me something is wrong, is useless. Giving me suggestions, is helpful. You see the difference? I don't post my work just for people to tell me how bad it is, and I'm tired of hearing it. I'm not telling you to sugarcoat your words or to tell me I'm amazing or anything stupid like that. Just be constructive and polite and I'm okay with it.

...And if you have a problem with that - get out of my art thread.

eek, sorry. I dont really know how you can fix your artwork effectively. I know it's to do with the shading, the shadows and the light. The pokemon itself is generally fine with it. That doesnt look flat, the environment does because the shadows dont work with the textures. The lines on it dont fit right with where the shadows are. Also the tree in the background suffers from it because, if it was all in silhouette that would be fine, but you highlight a certain point, and you're highlighting the whole plain of it, as though the tree were flat. Round trees would have a darkening shadow where the tree turns away. However my tips might be hard to implement because of the complex lighting you employed.

With the other one, I think the hand looks very close to his face because the shadow on his face is very very small, and right around his hand so it's like the shadow has no space between the surface it hits and the surface it is being cast by.

Sorry for not trying to help more.

Holy pokemon goodness! That suicune is to die for. Where to begin on the detail, it's WAY better than tons of the game art I've seen and even conceptual designs. The water is so reflective, the glowing purple fur carried by perhaps the wind, the purple reflection on the water with even a ripple effect, the trees in the background, the night sky and stars above. Oh that picture can't get much better if that's even possible :)

As I said before once, the eyes on that Jackal are gorgeous, they attract my attention right off the bat. The red "aura" around him is also a great touch, it expresses the anger within the character and the teeth bared only aid this appearance. The hair is so fluffy and soft though, the detail in it is simply awesome, I love that hairstyle and the black necklace is cool, but I like the chain lower down even more, it's a nice touch.

10/10 and 10/10 without an argument :3

Sorry Asia, I'll have to disagree with the flatness in the suicune one in particular!
I like the fact suicune had the most detail and the background not too coloured this way and that, because it brings out the mystical quality of the pokémon, and kind of the fact its beauty and legendary status would make anything else, even WZs beautiful starlit sky, as less regal.

Hate sounding like a brown-noser to WZs art, but I happen to love that suicune pic immensely! Well done kid -american style coach voice, with an included thumbs up- :D

Aww... both make me sad, I love the first one the most. That cagon looks even more high def than ever and that poor little heart D:

I liked the new style with that toy mouse, I wonder what other stuff would like with that. The teddy bear story was touching too, I loved it :)

Oh my gosh...why have I not looked at your thread before now?!
You're a very good artist (much better than myself, that's for sure, but that's because you keep drawing to improve)! I love your most recent two. Very nice. :)
"It broke..." is sad but cute at the same time and very well drawn & colored. "Mouse" is great as well, nice technique.

Suicune and "Get Out of My Face" are great too!
