I always Drew anthro creatures, though i didn't know they were furries but I just loved them so much and admired everything about them it was amazing to me. I remember I was also obsessed with dragons (Funny my boyfriend or to some my Mate is a dragon, Red Locus) anyways to the point I eventually found fursuits thinking to myself 'they look like the creatures I draw!' Looking into this more I found the fandom, furries, scalies, ect. I joined in immediately and still enjoy the fandom, as well as this forum which I truly love. So I've been a furry my whole life just didn't really know it until finding the fandom at 11

I am a furry, I didn't become one. I'm not someone who pretends to be someone I'm not. It feels strange to me.

P.S. guys did you know furries refers to the character right, furry fan is the fan so I guess furry fans are only furries if they're identifying through their character and in polls such persons generally answer "human" instead of "furry" at cons. This goes back to the 80s when scifi comic book artists dubbed the characters as furries based. If you know the series of Kimba, well that was the inspiration, the idea of non humans progressing into intellectual sapience like humans. Which is the story of my life, it seems.

You know, looking back I can't really find one defining moment where I was suddenly a furry...
It feels as if I have always been one...
I guess for me instead of an immediate transformation mine was so slow and over the course of several years so I didn't really notice at all until it was finally all over.

The year was 2013, it was winter and I was home alone watching my new favourite show My little pony: Friendship is magic.
I decided to go out and find some forums and pictures of my favourite ponys when I suddenly found a anthro picture. I loved it, a animal that looked a human. After that I started to search up more and after a while I found a page or site (I can't remember which) That was about furrys. I read it for hours then I was hooked.
But is not until now I have started to call me a furry.

   I saw a random fursuit video and I thought it was cool. So when I did research I saw how much I enjoyed it and boom i'm a furry.

I found a video on YouTube that was talking about furries, it was showing a con and some fursuits and it all looked like lots of fun. I've always felt a strong connection with animals so when I did some more research into the fandom it just felt right for me so I joined

I have actually been a furry for quite while. A few years ago i began to admire a lot of the furry communities artwork. I didn't even know what a furry was at the time but then again i don't get out much. I dug a little deeper and began discover what a furry really was. I kind of like the idea at first and i began to like it more and more as time went on. It wasn't until recently that i became more active in the community. Before the past fast few months i had been skulking around on the internet admiring the artwork and stories that weren't blocked by their creaters. I know that may be a little creepy but in real life i'm actually a shy person and don't normally aproach groups of people that well.
 I glad that i'm active now, even if there are some darker sides to the furry community

I became a furry the same time I came out as gay to my friends(about august this year). My friend Andrew was really into furries and he is the main reason i'm in the furry fandom(He was also my motivation of coming out as gay). He always drew these furries that made me gaze in awe of his skill. Then I started drawing furries, and through that I discovered my fursona "Leo Meowstein", he then got me playing games that were what you call "Furry Friendly" I like those alot too. Someday I wish to go to the furry convention in Pennsylvania or maybe just meet up with some furries in my state of Texas. But again you have to thank my friend Andy for me being in the furry fandom.

Although I Just Recently Was Introduced To The Community By My Friend. I Always Took a Liking To People With Animal Like Features, Such As Only Having The Ears And Tails. Until One Day, I Showed My Friend And He Started Showing Me Pictures And Videos About Furries. He Also Cleared Up The Confusion About This Being a Bad Community. Ever Since Joining I Have Been Shown Nothing But Respect And Kindness. I Have Also Seen How Accepting Everyone Is About Anything In People's Lives. I Have Always Acted That Way, But Seeing Other People That Feel The Same? How Could I Ever Pass That Up? I Am Happy To Meet More People Get To Know Them!

It probably happened after reading furry based comics, viewing art on DA, and watching furry tributes on youtube. I did some research into the fandom, and I found it pretty interesting..... thus, I decided to be one.

I was very susceptible to animal cartoons - My first exposure probably being Cats Don't Dance when I was a toddler. The one that got me was probably Balto (came out the year after I was born), my #1 all-time favorite childhood movie and I'm not ashamed to say it!!! It STILL is the greatest movie perhaps of all time. I became irrationally obsessed with that movie and identified myself as the wolfdog For a long time I didn't even understand what my deal was and thought I was the only one in the world who felt this way haha. Then I discovered furries... furry art... furry music... haha boy oh boy...   I was fur before I even adopted my first puppy.

For the record, I didn't see BaltoIII, but BaltoII was GABBAGE.

How did I become a furry? Good question.

Like everyone else I had always been quite fond of anthropomorphic animals in animated films and tv shows. So when my current mate intoduced the furry fandom to me five years ago it had really piqued my interests. I really appreciated the passion people put into their fursonas and characters. The stories behind them and the world that they lived in fascinated me and I found myself completely inspired. It was a great way to connect with my mate since he didn't have anyone else to share this intrest with. And the rest is history.
