How did YOU become furry? =)

Well you see when i was young around 3-6 years, an angel appeared in my dreams she was a beautiful white wolf fur and she whispered eyes sparkling you are a furry, you may not realize this now but when you are older you will understand and that's how i became a furry.

As far as i know i have always been a furry, as a little kid i always felt really attached to anything that had to do with animals and would often daydream about the chance to be one, usally a wolf.

Unlike the general, underlying theme here, as a child, animals weren't that big a deal to me. I was more of a star wars, doctor who, x-files, halo kid. Don't get me wrong, animals still had there place, but it was secondary to the whole sci-fi deal. Then I got into anime, and one of my anime friends showed me the darker side of the fandom. This lead me tho pick up on the sheer amount of hellfire furries got, and as I dug deeper into the fandom, I understood the struggle. Once I understood that, my love of anthros just kinda rose to the surface and clicked into place. Homestuck was also a persuading factor.

Not really sure how I started with furries.
Since young always loved the Disney movies, especially those featuring animals (such as Aristocats, Lion King, Jungle Book, Robin Hood) - then came Pokemon, and my love of favorite animals continued - my fan of furries really got me hooked when I discovered Deviant Art (and a few other art sites) and how awesome other artist made the animals looked.

im pretty sure i became a furry because of one of my favorite games Ty The Tasmanian Tiger, i played it all the time as a kid and when i was about 16ish i discovered deviantart  and naturally searched for art of my favorite games. alot of furry art was mixed in with it and a developed a interest in the art from there. now up to about a month ago i saw a fursuit on the web and wanted to know how it was made, then from then to now this fandom has managed to full suck me in, in a good way mind you

Gaiaonline really introduced me to furries. Sadly that site is more profit oriented than it used to be. It wasn't until recently that I outwardly expressed interest in furries. I always loved dogs and I like other furs like tigers, dragons, and horses.
I love the idea of fursuits but I would not be ready to make one. I don't really have a fursona yet to go off of.

I have always loved animals which is the reason why I became a furry. The back story to how I became one goes like this: Since I loved animals I always loved the idea of being an animal with human qualities. I would see characters in stories and movies that would inspire me to come up with anthro characters when I played with my friends. I didn't know that furries was an actual thing until about 3 years ago so, naturally, I became a furry immediately, and just recently I have started to become more active in the furry community.

I don't know the exact time, but it was my former girlfriend who introduced me to it 5 or so years back. It sort of stuck with me for whatever reason. Movies probably had some effect as well. One of my favorite childhood animated movies was the Fox and the Hound (original), so that might explain it.

Back about 5 years ago, I asked my mum for a minecraft account, I asked for the name "MidnightWolf999" since Wolves were pretty cool at the time and no one else seemed to use it, a few months later, I was talking with one of my "Brother-Figures" and he called me Wolfie, the name stuck, through excessive googling of wolves, I found furries, I loved it.


Being a furry for me, means that I can pretend to be Wolfles, a happy, jumpy, huggable wolf that, unlike me in the real world, doesn't have depression & anxiety, Me being Wolfles with my wolf-hat and tail is my way of being able to go out into the world without being scared, it takes me away from my stresses and worries (which mostly come from me being social too much with people and being over-whelmed, as well as my family because we do NOT get along....

I think I was always into anthropomorphic animals. Growing up I watched Balto and other animated Disney/Don Bluth films featuring animals, especially dogs, like Lady and the Tramp, Fox and the Hound, Lion King, the Aristocrats, Oliver and Company, 101 Dalmations, and Balto. My love of Pokemon also fueled my passion for animals, so did the Warriors books by Erin Hunter.


My love of The Legend of Zelda, especially Twilight Princess (a game where Link is basically a werewolf) led me to Okami, a video game based around Shinto/Buddhist/Confucianist religion and Japanese folklore where you play as a wolf form of the goddess Amaterasu.


So, mostly my interests led me to it, especially when I was first on the Internet. I played a lot of Flash games and I created my first fursona in sixth grade; a brown cat named Shasta. I have been in the furry fandom for about five or six years.

I actually didn't identify myself as a furry completely until about June of this year.

I mean, I've /always/ been a furry at heart because I've messed around in otherkin and vore websites long ago, but never really stayed longer than a couple days, and years went by without me truly getting into the fandom.

But I now realize this is just who I am, so might as well make a commitment to it.

Vore is actually what got me started in June. I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm into that, and I kind of magnetized to the idea of being a pred for people who want one. I like pleasing people more than being pleased, and it's something that I'm highly skilled at and enjoy doing.

I had lots of fun doing so, made some amazing friends along the way, and that's my story of how I became who I am now.

Before the time that I knew the word "furry" or anything about the fandom, I really liked many anthropomorphic animals in the internet; I found them cooler looking then other humans lol.

And in about 3-4 years I found out about it but at this time I was hooked into a lot of video games and I'm just in high school;group works and assignments. Tons of it.

Few weeks earlier, I was really bored to the point of not even interested in gaming at the moment. Desperate to get myself entertained, I worked up in my mind what I like other than any video game title and *BAM* the furries were the one to pop in my mind first. I then literally researched about them; their beginnings (years and such), types, and nearly what it would be like to be one.

I accepted to be a furry the following few days.

Well, another chapter of my life that is interesting to explain for you see, I started out as a brony, a story which I would rather not explain how I managed to become a part of that community, and I noticed that the community i was in did have more "adult" behaving members.. just not alot, it was then that I took notice of the furry community. I began to think up a fursona for myself, varying between cats to dogs to wolves to foxes, eventually sticking to a Wolf Fox hybrid, or Wolx. Though I must say the object that pulled me in the final stretch was the comic from ohjoysextoy, a site giving helpful lectures on different practices in life and how to do them safely. I saw an advertisement for the furry comic on another forum i was on

I read it through and noticed that the furry community might be the perfect chance for me to explore myself and find a community that was accepting with my newfound bisexuality.

I was in a production of Cats the musical in the summer of 2010 & I fell in love with the musical so much I became part of the Cats the Musical fandom & I saw these other costumes on the Cats forum I was part of but they were made of faux fur & foam. In 2011 I met who would become my best friend, AngelWingsCreations. she showed me her fursona, Angel. Fast forward to my senior year. Angel showed me videos of telephone at a sleepover and i was like OMG ADORABLE AS FLUFF! I did my research and i found the fandom and I was like THIS IS SO COOL! count me in! lol
