How did YOU become furry? =)

I discovered myself as a furry a few years ago when I found THAT side of the community, but I never had a real fursona until a year ago. During my search, I realized  that furrys/anthos where much more than THAT and decided to create myself as a furry and took the name emtile, short for emoreptile.

I always thought what other people said about furrys where true until reacently when I watched videos of furrycons and people unboxing their fursonas. I realised that I actually like the furry fandom and every one is so nice to me even though I started calling my self a furry a few days ago and I hope when I grow up so I can attend a furrycon. I feel like this is a fandom that I can be a part of despite being an awkward person.

I don't know. There was no sudden realization other than "Ooooh. It's called being a FURRY." I've related animalistic qualities in myself since High School; people called me wolf (or Proto, if they knew about the character) all during school and after. It was just kind of who I was, how I thought; a lot of the characters I made were furries anyway, at least in early stories, and I still have a habit of attributing human qualities to any animal I write. I didn't intend for Loose Jaw to get a personality, but sure enough, once his genetics change in Fall he starts to become more aware of the self, as it were.

Long story short, I always had been, just discovered that's what it's called, and always will be. And I've never been happier to find like-minded people. Everyone here was so accepting and encouraging and supportive. I love everyone on TFF. All my favorite fursons are here. I love you guys!

I started loving Furry Fandom a few months ago, when I saw some furry art, and since then, i became involved in FF.

This may sound silly but I went and saw the movie Zoo topia  .  I really enjoyed it.  I also really loved animals but the movie made me decide to become one.  Btw I'm new.

As many others, I first found that side of the community, before finding the um, normal side and deciding to join since it seemed nice. That's about it really. I didn't have much interest at the time though, so it's only until now that I've officially joined.

I have no idea when i became a furry only it was in the beginning of this year.The reason why i became a furry is most likely because i love cats and wanted to dress up as one. Later i stumbled on furry videos and i heard about 70% are gay or bi and i was bi curious so i felt safe near furrys in contrast to the homophobic environment i live in but dont worry some people here are accepting of homosexuality .

Always had a love for dragons and always referred to myself as "The Dragon" in any MMO I played. The colors (black/purple) I use because of Runescape, and my love for the god Zaros.

It seems that I am one of the few people that found the bad side of furries after the good side. I always liked animals and on a forum I was talking to someone named "Furrific". They are actually the one that told me about furries. Since then, I have considered myself a furry, if not a very active one. Right now I am trying to make a fursona, but I don't know where to start.

I'd say I had my big realisation sometime in the ninth grade. One of my friends at the time was a furry, and while I was drawing anthros pretty regularly, I never really thought myself as a furry until he opened my eyes to the fact that there is a fandom xD Since then, I've just chugged along like I always have, except now knowing that there's a wonderful community to share in the furriness with

well i was a bronie to start with and after the site i was on became too toxic i had to leave and after looking around for a new site i found Furaffinity and spent a few hour looking at the amazing art and decided i say hi and got the warmest welcome ive ever had , then i saw telephone and fell in love with fursuits and suiters

when i was twelve i was introduced to my cousin who is quite the bit older and goes under the name fuchsia possum i thought everything about her art and suit were really cool so i just decided to look into it and i ended up here i guess
