How did YOU become furry? =)

When I was 12 or 13 I somehow found out about furries. I don't know how I did it, honestly. However, before that I was pretty much a furry due to my love of anthro animals.

Well I have always liked animals like wolves, I also am a fan of sonic the hedgehog so I started liking antros from a young age . As with most kids I liked cartoons like regular show and adventure time and lots of others which contributed. And the last reason is the community because I heard of the accepting people
So that's how I am here I guess.

I liked to look at anthropomorphic art way before I'd even heard of the furry fandom, then when I discovered it and researched it two days ago I decided I wanted to be a furry!

Hm, I guess I always kind of was.  I always said I was a cat when I was little.  My family even said I grew up to be a cat. 

I didn't even know what a furry was or that there was a fandom until I was 18 and joined secondlife.  I guess that's when I joined the actual fandom.

I became a furry from watching movies like fox and the hound, robin hood, balto, and all dogs go to heaven. I just always like personified animals in cartoons and stuff and i never really grew out of it.

I guess how I became a furry is when I had a fascination with cartoons at first. This began to develop into where I have them integrated in my own fantasies and dreams.The more of the idea of a furry community came to my mind, I was always wanting to know what it was.


I started to began actively viewing anthropomorphic artwork, and eventually considered creating my own.


Now I've officially began communicating with other furries, and plan to later participate in other activites and conventions.

I always preferred animals to humans- I used to run around on all fours, even. I always drew animals more, too. Though that may have been influenced by my not being any good at drawing humans.


From that stuff just kind of snowballed and here I am.

I started to become a furry sometime in 2006 when I was only about 6 years old, sometime after seeing the Over The Hedge movie. It got me obsessing over anthropomorphic raccoons for years on end, sticking with me all my life, but I never really truly started to fully accept my "furry-ness" until really recently

Brotha I wuz BORN a furry, it just took me a while for me to discover it.  Animals of any kind are awesome, but if you add a little fantasy and cross-breeding it becomes amazing!   I discovered I was a furry when I was on google images looking at pictures of wolves, then an anthro wolf came up.  Then I started looking at pictures of those.  Then I started drawing anthro creatures (not very good drawings) then... I discovered... the fandom  Everyone there was so nice to me and I'm so grateful to have everyone with the same interest as me.  Respect to all my brother and sister furries.

I absolutely love animals! When I started coming across anthropomorphic animal art online, I thought it was amazing and creative, leading me to become mildly interested in furries. Just last month someone I was following on Pinterest made a board titled 'Furries', so I checked it out and found plenty of awesome art and pictures of intricate fur-suits. I went on to join an anthro role play on another site, so I of course created myself a fursona (and another OC) for that -  it went on from there.

In RP's and RPGS (Ex: The elderscrolls) I always liked to create anthro characters and I always liked the idea of the furry fandom,
I was always confused of what made you a 'furry' but never took enough time to do some research but yesterday I did take that time and was thrilled to find out that anyone could be a furry, then that lead me here

I was on IMVU and I had heard of furries and there seemed to be a lot on there at the time, so I browsed the shop on there for my avatar and started finding stuff and it was like everything fell into place when I'd got my first furry avatar.  I truly felt it was right and being a furry has been a huge part of my life ever since 

It's really helped me with my shyness and confidence

I happened to stumble upon DA user doom-the-wolf and, being my 13-year-old self, was confused and disturbed by the material at first until I looked further into these "furry" things and fell in love with them.

It all started with my friend, she was drawing anthro art (She's a furry too) and I thought that I would try it too. So I came up with a character, (He was a dragon named Sil, who I had actually fantasized what it would be like if I one day became him) but eventually, I came up with my current fursona, Baddourufu. I didn't realize I was furry until one day I was looking through a list of Minecraft servers, and one of them said "Furries Welcome" and I had heard of furries before that, but I didn't know much about them, so I was a little curious and I looked up what a furry is, and I was like, "Wow! That looks cool, I think I'll become a furry!" and then ~6 months later I discover this place (yesterday).
