How did YOU become furry? =)

Even though I haven't read everyone's post, I think mine is similar. ;

Like a few have already said, I was into the whole werewolf thing and I was just fascinated with them. I was about 10 or 11 at the time. Yet, for some reason, I never expressed my fondness for werewolves because I thought people would think I was weird for some reason. I remember liking the idea of being either a dragon, or a cat, or a wolf, and the idea of having a tail really appealed to me.
Then, came that infamous CSI episode... My family and I used to watch CSI with each other and during that whole episode, the concept of dressing up as an animal seemed really cool to me. But of course, since my parents were there... that made me really shy away from expressing a liking of furries. Well, when I grew older, and was more exposed to the Internet, I learned more about furries and... voila.

It's so funny because at times people go crazy and hate furries for the preferences they have, and refer to that CSI episode, when Detective Grissom makes a wonderful statement in the middle of the episode:

"...the only unnatural sexual behavior was to have none at all, and after that, it's just a question of oppuritunity and preference.  And, evidently, many prefer the feel of fur to the texture of human skin."

So really, that episode almost proves out that furries are just like normal people. It's all a matter of preference, and no outside force can make you change that.

Of course, I don't mind if people may dislike certain preferences... but when it gets to the point of judging and hating a certain group of people...
And that is rather amusing; but I'm sure furry-haters who have seen that episode usually pay more attention to what the furries are doing rather than most of the script.

I don't deny that. People who yearn to bring down others different from them have a one track mind. It's a matter of what's really there instead of one side of the story. Ha, and it's CSI, we all know we're there to see bloodied up bodies anyway. That's about it.

Personally I think a T.V. programme... that is based around entertainment, of all things is easy to look at and think "wow, this is pretty exaggerated". I wouldn't hesitate to tell someone who takes it seriously to get a grip.

Though I believe that quote is actually quite true, I mean, I don't intend to overgeneralise (personally I have no interest in any sexual content much, or "done" stuff), but looking at a lot of my friends stuff... well, let's just say my friend has a pretty showey wallpaper on his phone.

Mine is probably extremely close to everyone else's.  When I was around two or three I discovered Sonic the Hedgehog and was instantly obsessed.  I would somersault across the living room yelling "look I'm Sonic".  Dr. Robotnik was my favorite.  Then when our SEGA Genesis broke, my obession faded into nothingness.  Then 10-13 years later (I can't remember exactly) Boomerang introduced me to the SwatKats.  And I then gained access to the newer Sonic games and that's when my affinty for fur exploded.

Lol me too on Sonic the Hedgehog, I loved that whole anthropomorphic ideal of a human-animal hybrid combining intelligence and strengths *often super-human* which made me have a whole attraction to this up until i could finally find a name for such a liking which made me eventually find out about furries and come here. However, as I've noted before this, I like wolves a lot and I feel like I identify with their characteristics well, so that's how I decided on my wolf-fursona
